At these bonuses I get consistent ~120k exp per job. If I add horse and dex gloves (+2 int and +2 dex) then it gets my staining to 450 bonus then I consistently get ~160k exp per job (although this does require making sure I achieve deftly or above with my stains). This 160k seems to be the platue. Riverphoenix has increased staining much further than me and doesn't think the exp rewards will be any higher. I was told by someone 180k-190k rewards but I think I've surpassed their bonuses so I'm wondering if they were mistaken/getting it mixed up with top pavement laying job. I am planning on increasing all my bonuses for both consistency and with peop.teach.craft to be able to teach pottery to folks.

It doesn't take too much exp to get into the 200ish bonus range to start earning exp for doing pottery, I think it starts to shine at 300+ bonuses (in shaping, staining and design at least) and I was definitely TMing more after achieving these heights. Also if someone wants to do some serious testing for me don't advance design and pump staining to high levels. I'm curious as to how much impact design actually has on the rewards.

MELEE REARRANGE VERSATILITY
versatility = sum of melee stats x number of times those stats are utilized throughout the skill tree

I'm no math wiz, so I apologize if this calculation is poorly framed. I'm simply attempting to illustrate the point of view that an extreme rearrange that favours dagger or unarmed will provide a much easier playing experience across the entire skill-base, while an extreme rearrange that favours polearm (also, mace, axe and hsword) will be much more restricted to a melee experience.

I believe that sometime in the last year or so Quow posted some calculations to these boards showing the amount of xp required to grind each melee bonus, but I can't find it. The takeaway was that it's also far cheaper to get a high dagger bonus than other melee skills.

I'll be honest - unarmed baffles me so I'll leave this to others.

FINDINGS:
Dagger requires less xp to get a high bonus than other melee skills.

A dagger/dodge rearrange affords a more versatile playing experience (including knightly horse riding).

The best daggers are lighter than any other weapon, but just as effective. Flail is the possible exception, but with a less versatile rearrange.

Despite not having behead/crush/impale/wildswing, a warrior using dagger could still use storm/charge and/or berserk.

If using dodge, extreme rearranges for high bonuses favour dagger.
If using parry, extreme rearranges for high bonuses favour dagger/sword.
If using block, extreme rearranges for high bonuses favour flail.

As for axe, it's not a great choice because:
* it gets a negative parry modifier (polearm gets a positive parry modifier)
* except for wooden trees, slash is less useful than pierce or blunt (although one can still stab wooden trees to death)
* you'll be like an inferior dagger/flail user or an inferior heavy-sword user

However, axe is a great choice if:
* you like chopping down trees
* you like the way your muscles look while holding/swinging it
* you like to vary your playing style between heavy weapons and light weapons

FINALLY, just for the flame board:
I don't mind making game decisions for role-play reasons, but I'm tired of creators trying to maintain a melee status-quo that favours dagger/dodge in so very many ways. Why do 4 or 5 avg damage daggers even exist? Our combat system combines player stats/bonuses with weapon stats, which means that weapon classes having equivalent weapons will never work. I wish (knowing full well they never will be) weapons were restricted to light/fast with 3avg damage up to very-heavy/slow with 7avg damage. Or, that more strength (not bonus) = damage closer to the weapon max damage and less strength (not bonus) = damage closer to the weapon min damage.

Currently just a place to dump all my pottery data and theories/updates on what I've been learning.

If you want to do pottery, make your pottery pieces before accepting the order. Only accept orders that you can consistently stain on otherwise you will run out of time.

Main takeaways is at ~200 bonuses I can shape up mugs with some success, can do stripes, spots and squares reasonably well. rings mostly decently and very occasionally succeed with diamonds. Thorn, blossom, cabbage, cheshire cat and leaf all end up as failures.

???? tells you: IIRc, ring, square, diamond patterns are all easier, thorn and blossom are harder, and cabbage, leaf, and cheshire cat are very hard. (Also spots which I think are the easiest followed by stripes and then rings) I think the difficult probably goes spots, stripes, rings then squares, diamonds, thorns, then blossom, cabbage, leaf, cheshire.
