Militsioner Demo Changelist
Version 0.20.7
Update Summary
This update introduces an enhanced system for Militsioner’s moods, new gifts, a physical inventory system, and a dynamic flood mechanic, making the entire experience highly systemic. Additionally, we've refined the town and expanded it with a new area.
Quick note: Even if you played the last demo, we recommend completing the new tutorial before diving in.
Change List
Moods of Militsioner
- Negative moods worsen over time or due to your actions. Until you cure them, the town will remain affected. Currently, there are two worsening effects:
- When the giant is depressed, the rain begins, flooding the town.
- When the giant is in panic, everything in the town becomes illegal.
— It creates dynamic and systemic gameplay that fully derives from players actions.
- He's needy. In true Tamagotchi fashion, you’ll need to constantly monitor his ever-degrading mental state. Don't forget to feed him when he gets sad; give him coffee to help him stay awake longer, or get him drunk so he’ll fall asleep. Successfully managing his moods can unlock new restricted areas, gain important items or just make a friend out of him.
— This creates a constant flow of short-term problems that players need to solve while they work on their escape route.
Gifts
- All items can now be gifted, with some causing positive effects and others negative. Understanding what the Giant and other characters like and dislike provides better insight into their personalities.
— This adds a lot of strategy and experimentation into the game, as all items have their own effect on the Giant's mood.
Flood Mechanic

- The flood alters the town, granting access to previously unreachable areas for further exploration. Dive underwater to explore the town from a new perspective.
“Please note that movement underwater will be improved in future.”
—The flood refreshes the location, introducing a whole new level of traversal and experimentation.
Stealth

- If woken up at night, the Militsioner will hover over the town with his eyes glowing like spotlights. In this state, his hearing becomes more acute. Stay out of the light, be cautious of your movements, and avoid loud surfaces such as metal or leaves. Although, you can always play aggressively and throw a bottle to create a diversion.
— Stealth adds difficulty and tension to nighttime gameplay. Decide whether to seek refuge in a safe place or press on to gather as much as you can tonight.
Long arm of the law
- The hand has become faster and more menacing, destroying covers such as canopies and pipes. Their destruction also alters your path to certain areas.
— This makes the whole arresting process more challenging, requiring players to think carefully before acting.
Other changes:
- New physical inventory. You can now drag and drop physical items from and into your inventory.
— This adds a tactile element to interactions with the world.

- Shop transforms with time of day. During the day, the shop allows you to buy and sell items. At night, it offers a unique action: converting illegal items to legal ones. Legal items won't be confiscated and can be gifted to Militsioner.
— This forces players to consider the time of day in their decision-making.

- Expanded locations. New town areas have been added, offering additional ways to explore, while old locations have been reworked. Now, there are more location puzzles, such as alarm and electricity systems.
— This adds more exploration to the town.
- UI/UX. Updated tutorial popups for better guidance. Added in-game and on-hand maps for easier navigation. Achievements have been added that persist across runs. offering a sense of progression and suggesting new paths for experimentation.

Conclusion
This demo has propelled us further along the systemic and open-ended vector, akin to Outer Wilds or the Hitman series. By restricting the information available to players, we create a nearly rogue-like game loop. With each run, through experimentation, players gain a more accurate understanding of how the game world works, helping them in orchestrating a perfect escape.
