Hey guys,
Things are picking up this week! I'm almost ready to reveal the secret side project we've been working on, but Evergreen has also had some updates. Let's begin!

POPGOES Evergreen:
So last week I gave a small teaser of Saffron and her new mechanic. Though some of you struggled to get a good look at it... as a tip for the future, make sure to actually download images from Game Jolt using the "Download" button if you plan on messing around with it in an image editing software. Don't just copy it from the site!
So what's she doing?!
Some of you already knew that, in Evergreen, the squirrel sisters are given separate mechanics. They won't try to both fit in the ventilation shaft. Sara will still try by herself, as you've seen in previous game imagery, but not Saffron.
In Evergreen, the squirrel sisters (during gameplay) actually start off in the Photo Room, which is the new room replacing the Staff Room from the original game. You can see the Photo Room door in the game by looking behind you:
This room, like the Staff Room, has a vent opening, and this is what Sara uses to reach the player. Her mechanic, aside from some minor changes with the game's map, is identical to how the sisters worked in the original game. Sara takes advantage of her quiet and perhaps forgettable personality to sneak around the entire building to reach the player. Saffron, on the other hand, takes a more direct approach.
She just pulls the door open.
Yes, Saffron's mechanic is slowly pulling open (and probably damaging) the heavy automatic door in front of her, while staring the player down from across the room. Fits Saffron perfectly I think.
This mechanic, like Sara's, works in irreversible steps. If Saffron starts pulling the door, you'll hear it jamming behind you and will need to shut down the Photo Room (exactly like how you shut down the rooms Popgoes is in). This will reset Saffron in the room (essentially "stunning" her temporarily), but the door will not return to its original position. So you gotta be on top of that shit.
What makes this so threatening is that, in Evergreen, the room shut down button is on a cooldown of sorts. Meaning you'll need to make sure that Popgoes is preoccupied before you shut down Saffron, or Saffron will basically be directly helping Popgoes print a piece. It's about timing, pushing the shut down button in regular intervals so you don't end up needing it when it's unavailable. I think it's a solid plan!
Garrett worked on the renders required for this, this week. Here's a gif of Saffron's five states (ignoring the totally closed door):
Once the door is fully open she'll reach the player and take their phone (though I'm not sure where she'll be when she does this yet). So, ultimately, the same goal as Sara, but a different approach. I hope you like how it looks!
Got nothing else to share with Evergreen this week but hey, that's a whole new mechanic right there. Be grateful.
Merch:
Work has continued on the theoretical Halloween pin set that I've pitched to Youtooz. Jayfer is conceptualising designs, of course based on the Halloween trading cards, with some more of my own direction. Here's how three of them currently look:
Though this would ultimately be a set of six, like the normal pin set (coming soon)!
Scarecrow Stone doesn't have visible eyes - instead he has string crossing over some holes in his sack mask, which is difficult to achieve in the Youtooz style but thankfully not unprecedented... It turns out some Youtooz with X-shaped eyes already accomplish a fitting compromise by mirroring a sideways eye into a cross, like this. So we've done the same!
As for the normal pin set, I think development on it has wrapped up! I recently requested that some colours change, and that was sorted quickly. I'm going to receive a prototype of them soon! I will share a photo of how they look IRL when I get the chance.
Other:
Nice! Well, I'll see you all later. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed. More stuff soon!
