Hi guys,
Another week, another devlog. Some pretty consistent progress this week, lots done in the 3D side of things, though nothing too exciting. I'll still share some bits! Firstly, fanart:

POPGOES Evergreen:
Like I said, some pretty consistent progress this week for Evergreen, mostly in the 3D department. Garrett has been sorting out game-ready renders of the pizzeria with Popgoes and Blackrabbit pieces. So far, all renders for the Art Room, Kitchen, and Arcade Room are finished.
Here's one:
Here's something sort-of new as well (I've mentioned this in some Discord servers): we're playing around with the idea of a new ability that Popgoes uses in the later nights of the week, where he misleads the player into shutting down the wrong room. We're calling this "Fakeout" at the moment.
Essentially, when Popgoes enters a room to take a part, he'll stare straight ahead or at the 3D printer. When this happens you should shut down / reset the room. This will stun Popgoes, in the room, for a short while. Your room reset has a cooldown which will sync up pretty well with when Popgoes enters the next room.
But here's the thing: Sometimes, when Popgoes is in a room, he won't be looking at the printer:
Kiiinda creepy, right?
If Popgoes is staring at the camera like this, he's initiated the fakeout and you should NOT reset the room. If you do, the room will be reset but HE won't. While your button is still on a cooldown, Popgoes will go to a different room and print a piece from there. If you leave him alone, he'll eventually stare at the printer and THEN you should reset the room. Make sense?
Again, this is just an idea at the moment, something I've had in mind for years. But we're rendering it out because it doesn't take very long and we might as well. Plus it looks really creepy.
And remember, every single render of Popgoes (and any other animatronic) has them positioned in a place that is in TOTAL DARKNESS when the camera's flashlight is turned off:
So that they can teleport in and out, etc. It looks VERY cool in motion. Absolutely no static for the characters to hide behind!
Nothing else to show, but Alexis is also still working on the bare endoskeleton model, Odium is working on the middle stage for Mangle, and NeeTroo is working on the first post-night section. Last week I said that was at 80% and now I'd say it's closer to 90%. Lots of work done for it and we've also previewed it in Clickteam and it looks awesome!
POPGOES Arcade:
The mobile ports for Arcade are now a priority for us, mostly Emil, myself and some members of the Clickteam dev team. We have run into some obstacles, namely that certain features like ini++ (the save system we use) and certain functions of Emil's custom shaders do not work natively on mobile. These are extremely vital parts of basically every game Emil programs, so we need them to work one way or another (or mobile ports won't be possible). We're working closely with Clickteam to look at solutions, but it is tricky.
Regardless, know that ports are something we are actively working on. If the process is fixed and we're able to work on specific features like touchscreen UI, then the port process should be fine and a release SHOULD happen this year. No idea about consoles but we are also talking about that.
Kane Carter's BMC Creator Showcase:
Earlier this week I hosted a small event on Twitter and Game Jolt where I showcased some amazing work from the content creators of my Buy Me a Coffee server.
Buy Me a Coffee is a subscription donation service that I use. It's like Patreon!
The event included images, videos, announcements and promos. It also had some fangame developers that you're probably familiar with, like ViTCH (who announced a new The Web of Cogs and Oil game), Garrett McKay (who announced a new FNAF game called A Bite at Freddy's), and NeeTroo (creator of Tealerland who announced a total reboot called XANNIBAN)!
You can check out all of the posts by scrolling through my profile (which is now just
, not )!Thank you everyone for taking part. I'm also very grateful for the amount of support people gave on my profiles, as I know it was a totally new thing to see on your feeds. I'm surprised I didn't lose any followers on Twitter haha.
Cool Twitter thing:
For the past few days I've been posting some cool POPGOES and FNAF-themed images to Twitter that use an "exploit" in Twitter's algorithm for resizing pictures on their site.
Essentially, if an image has a small colour palette, Twitter will retain it when resizing the image. If your image only uses pure black and pure white (1-bit) then Twitter will recompile your image with only those two colours (no grey) AFTER resizing the image. Meaning when a 3x3 clump of pixels is resized to just 1x1, Twitter will round it up to either just one white pixel or just one black pixel (based on how many of each were in the 3x3 clump).
Anyway, I've used this technique to make "hidden" images. You see something on your Twitter feed, but if you click the image, something extra is revealed:
These Tweets got so popular that Youtooz contacted me to help them create one for a FNAF product reveal! I won't spoil it, but you can check it out here (click the pic, then click the image in the Tweet itself):
These are a ton of fun to work on and I've had some awesome requests. I'll probably carry on messing around with this, and other potential exploits with how Twitter handles images. Like maybe something with this. I'm glad people are enjoying what I've posted so far anyway!
GJ Awards (last time I promise):
I'll be quick with this, but there are only 3 days left to vote for your choices in the GJ Awards! POPGOES Arcade and I are nominated for a few categories:
Any votes are appreciated but you should check out all of the categories and vote for who and what you want. Winners will be announced on the 31st of January!
Alrighty, that's it this week. Thank you everyone for your support, it's felt especially great recently. Awesome start to the new year!
