Update Summary

What’s New:

  • Two simultaneous escape scenarios (+1 secret escape for the true romantics).

⚠️ WARNING

Demo 2.5 is a highly experimental build. We’ve pushed the boundaries by testing new mechanics and reworking the whole location. As a result, you’ll encounter block–outed areas, debug textures, and other rough edges throughout the game.

Expect to run into plenty of bugs. We’re aware of many of them, so please don’t be alarmed. Right now, our focus is rapid gameplay iteration, and a rough build is a necessary part of that process.

Even if you’ve played the previous demo, we highly recommend completing the new tutorial before diving in. It will help you get familiar with the updated mechanics.

How to get access to Demo 2.5

1. Make sure to link your Patreon account with Discord

2. Press the button Get the Key! in #demo-keys discord channel

3. Activate your key in Steam: Add game -> Activate product on Steam and then follow the activation steps

4. The app Militsioner Playtest will appear in your Steam Library

5. Activate experimental Demo 2.5:

  • Click the settings icon on the right of the page, hit properties, betas

  • Select "Experimental" option

Militsioner behavior

  • The flashlight is back! Don’t worry, though—his glowing eyes might make a comeback in the future!

  • Angry Militsioner grew even more devastating. No one is safe inside the buildings anymore. Let’s leave it at that.

Dialogue system

  • Mood-based dialogue options — You always have three dialogue options, based on the character’s current mood. When their mood changes, your three dialogue options change too. 
    In the future, this allows for a wide variety of system-driven dialogue options.

  • Contextual options — At times, you have a timed option to pick a unique response.
    This opens up even more possibilities for creative dialogue scenarios.

Train

  • New train type — the cargo train!

  • Don’t be afraid, the old electric train looks blocky for now 😓. 

Location

  • New bridge area

  • Expanded underground area

  • Significant reworks in the central part of the town

Other features:

  • House NPCs — The town’s residents. Breaking into people's apartments won’t be so easy anymore.

  • TV with VHS player — now you can find and play tapes.

  • Washing Machine — Turning illegal items clean again. 

  • The player's position on the game map.

  • Flashlight: Activate the flashlight using [F].

  • Pawnshop is reworked. You can now sell items 24/7, not just during the day. 

  • Dynamic transport — it’s a prototype. Just don’t try escaping through map boundaries… though it might be possible 🙏

New epilogue system — We understand timers can be stressful, so we’ve reworked the 3-day escape timer. With the new epilogue system, the timer only appears when it truly matters, ensuring better pacing and avoiding alienating players who dislike them.

Known bags and issues

  • Damaged doors: Blue doors may turn white after being damaged.

  • Location boundaries: Holes can appear in the terrain and in location geometry boundaries.

  • Dynamic cars: Vehicles might drive through walls and objects unexpectedly.

  • Pawnshop selling box: The selling box may break under certain conditions.

  • Militsioner animations: His animations can occasionally glitch.

  • Car alarms: In rare cases, the Militsioner may ignore triggered car alarms.

  • Inventory UI: The interface may display incorrectly on resolutions other than 16:9.

  • Some objects may disappear or look different at a distance. HLODs were not rebaked for this demo, so expect some inconsistencies.

  • Russian localisation: The Russian localization is still a work in progress and has numerous issues due to its early state. Since the game is in active development, we recommend playing the game in English for the best experience.

  • Ghost train: In rare cases, an invisible train may arrive—you’ll only hear its sound but won’t see it.

In the Discord, go to Channels & Roles (top of channel list in Discord) and look for Patreon, it should have a red dot next to it. The #-demo-keys channel is set to be hidden by default, but if you click it, it'll show up on the right and you can hit "Get Key" to generate the key hidden behind a black bar that you copy and paste into Steam under the "Activate a Product on Steam" menu option.

I can't find "betas" in the Steam app settings. Why don't you do an official early release in Steam? Plenty of people would be willing to pay the price of the game to get in on it early. I would. If only I could play this, but I don't see your demo anywhere.
