A man has been arrested following an alleged incident near Glasgow on New Year's Day. 

It is understood that armed cops attended a reported 'disturbance' in the Howieshill Road area of Cambuslang at around 7.55am today.

Police say no one was injured, however, a 43-year-old man was arrested in connection. 

An investigation has now been launched to establish the full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.55am on Wednesday, January 1, to a report of a disturbance in the Howieshill Road area of Cambuslang.

“Officers attended and a 43-year-old man was arrested.

“No one was injured and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
