Part of the overall Best Countries rankings from U.S. News, the Social Purpose subranking is based on an equally weighted average of scores from 11 country attributes that relate to societal causes, including cares about human rights, cares about the environment, gender equality, religious freedom, respects property rights, trustworthy and well-distributed political power. Other attributes include racial equity, cares about animal rights, committed to climate goals and committed to social justice.
