Nora Eckert reports on the automotive industry from Detroit. Her coverage focuses on the Big Three automakers, UAW, as well as the broader electric vehicle transition.
She was previously an auto industry reporter for The Wall Street Journal in Detroit, where she broke news on major automakers such as Ford, as well as the automotive union’s historic six-week strike in 2023. Her earlier work with the paper’s investigations group, which examined how the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged nursing homes, was recognized as a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize.
Before getting into automotive reporting, Nora was an investigative reporter with the Rochester Post Bulletin in Minnesota. Her series on the state's organ transplant system earned the Minnesota Newspaper Association's award for best investigative story of 2022.
A Wisconsin native, Nora holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and attended St. Norbert College as an undergraduate.
