Upload & Submission Policy

Goal

Threat Insights Portal is a MultiScanner online threat analysis platform designed for analyzing malware or suspicious files. This means that the score and verdict will always lean towards a malicious outcome. Please review the submission policy rules below to better understand what types of files are appropriate for submission.

What types of uploads are permitted?

• Files that are suspected to be malware or appear suspicious.

• Files that are no older than 1 year from their first submission to VirusTotal.

• Any file that is not classified as junk (categories listed below).

Files that are allowed but should not be uploaded frequently.

• APK files for Android (consider using an alternative service for APK analysis).

• JAR files (consider using an alternative service for JAR analysis).

• Password-encrypted ZIP archives.

• Miners (Xmrig or other Mining Software that is prebuild and ready to mine / abuse of online VMs)

Which files are prohibited from being uploaded?

• Images

• Videos

• Text / Log Files (Scripts are allowed, but plain text, data files, or non-malicious HTML content are not)

• Files older than 1 year (based on first submission to VirusTotal)

• Large files intended to fill storage (junk files)

Exceptions to the above rules include

• Files explicitly requested for specific analysis purposes

• Files related to ongoing investigations or research where an exemption is granted

• Files uploaded by trusted users or services with prior approval

• If you are absolutely certain that the uploaded file is malware, even if it falls under the junk category, it should still be analyzed.

Punishments

• If you persist in violating the rules and policies, your account will be banned.

• The trust level of the account will be reset.

• If you upload files via a guest account and continue to violate the rules or policies, we will block your IP address through Cloudflare.

• You will get blocked from Uploading, Fetching files, Login / Register!

Rewards

• If you upload quality and new malware samples, your trust score will increase over time.

This policy is subject to change at any time, and we recommend reviewing it regularly. Major updates will be announced on our Twitter account.
