San Antonio was the first stop in President John F. Kennedy's whirlwind trip to Texas. 

First lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Texas Gov. John Connally and Sen. Ralph W. Yarborough accompanied Kennedy to Brooks Air Force Base for the dedication of the Aerospace Medical Health Center.

Afterward, the presidential entourage departed San Antonio that afternoon for the flight to Houston.
