A man is in hospital after two men assaulted him with baseball bats in an Oxfordshire retail park car park, police say.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the grievous bodily harm incident in Oxford, which happened between 7pm and 8pm on Friday, December 20 in the car park of Wickes, Aldi and Home Bargains in Botley.

Police say the victim, a man in his 40s, was hit by a black Fiat 500. Two men then got out of the vehicle and continued to assault the victim with baseball bats before making off in their vehicle.

The victim sustained injuries to their leg and face, and received hospital treatment, where they remain at this time.

Police say the two men are described as having a tall and lean build, and were seen to be wearing all black clothing and balaclavas. They were both carrying metal or wooden baseball bats.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Mari Cottle-M'boge, said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and there is no threat to the wider public.

“I am appealing to anyone who has information about this assault to contact Thames Valley Police as soon as possible.

“If you saw the assault, have dash-cam footage of the assault then please come forward to us.
