A Walla Walla County man faces child sex crime charges, and Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office officials fear he has additional victims who have not yet come forward.

John Andrew Sutherland, 32, is charged with one count of first-degree child rape and one charge of first-degree child molestation.

He is accused of sexually abusing a girl in 2008, when he was 16 years old.

The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin does not publish the identity of alleged sexual assault victims.

The victim, now an adult, told police about the alleged abuse in October, according to court documents.

Sutherland was arrested Friday, Dec. 6.

The probable cause affidavit includes evidence that Sutherland might have abused more than one child, and the WWCSO is now asking for help.

In a news release, the office asked anyone with any information to call Detective Dan Teel at 509-524-5418 or email him at dteel@co.walla-walla.wa.us.

According to court documents, Sutherland was released on a $50,000 bond on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Conditions of his release state he cannot have contact with the victim or any state witnesses or leave Walla Walla County.

He was assigned a public defender in his initial court appearance on Monday, Dec. 9, but he has since hired Walla Walla defense attorney William McCool.

Sutherland is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, Dec. 23.
