沿革

1961年	住友金属工業(株)〈現日本製鉄（株）〉の航空機器事業部門を継承し、住友精密工業(株)として発足
1963年	低温工業用大型熱交換器の製造を開始
1967年	哨戒機用大型プロペラの製造を開始
1969年	液化天然ガス気化装置の製造を開始
1970年	東京・大阪の両証券取引所に株式を上場
1974年	オゾン発生装置の製造を開始
1975年	熱交換器の製造につき米国ASME規格を取得
1977年	滋賀（油圧機器）工場完成
1982年	滋賀（航空機器）工場完成
1986年	真空装置分野に進出、半導体製造装置の事業領域を拓く
1988年	世界最高水準のオゾン発生濃度を達成する超高濃度オゾナイザを開発宇宙機器の開発と製造を開始
1989年	本社・新社屋完成
1990年	高温分野向けステンレス製熱交換器の製造を開始
1993年	和歌山（熱交換器）工場完成
1994年	低温工業用熱交換器につきISO9001認証を取得
1995年	英国Surface Technology Systems plc（STS）を買収
1996年	水工学センター開設
1997年	民間航空機用機器につきISO9001認証を取得
1999年	英国BAe社とモーションセンサの製造・販売に関する合弁事業会社を設立本社・工場においてISO14001認証を取得
2000年	Sumitomo Precision USA,lnc.（米国現地法人・テキサス州）を設立
2001年	本社工場にてプラズマプロセス装置の製造を開始
2004年	中国寧波海天集団股份有限公司との共同出資で寧波住精液圧工業有限公司を中国に設立
2009年	米国Aviza Technology Inc.の一部資産と事業を買収、英国SPP Process Technology Systems Ltd.（SPTS）を設立し、STSと統合
2010年	住友精密工業技術（上海）有限公司を設立
2011年	英国SPTSを譲渡。SPTSとの合弁会社SPPテクノロジーズ(株)を設立
2012年	SPP Canada Aircraft, Inc.を設立
2014年	SPP長崎エンジニアリング株式会社を設立
2019年	SPP Aerospace Service Inc.を設立
2023年	東京証券取引所市場の上場廃止
