Biography

Dr. Malafaia (Guilherme) is a Department of Biological Sciences Professor at Goiano Federal Institute (Goiás State, Brazil). He received a bachelor's degree from the Federal University of Ouro Preto, MS from the Federal University of Goiás, and Ph.D. from the Federal University of Goiás, all related to Environmental and Biological Sciences. Furthermore, he completed 7 postdoctoral internships at different institutions. He has more than 360 papers published in scientific journals, is a reviewer for more than 150 national/international journals, and is Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, or Guest Editor for more than 10 international journals. He is a member of the Brazilian Society of Ecotoxicology (ECOTOX-BRASIL), the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC-Latin America), and the Brazilian Academy of Young Scientists (ABJC). He is currently the coordinator of the Laboratory of Toxicology Applied to the Environment, working with the ecotoxicological assessment of emerging pollutants, including micro- and nanoplastics, nanomaterials, nanofibers, pesticides, drug residues, etc. He is the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq/Brazil) productivity fellow in Environmental Sciences. In 2023 he was listed in the Latin America Top 10,000 Scientists by the AD Scientific Index. He is an advisor for scientific initiation (undergraduate students), master's, doctorate, and post-doctoral internships.
