Music basics with one big “BUT”

I’m not a music rookie—I…

  • have been playing the flute since childhood,
  • am advanced with acoustic guitar,
  • and am a piano beginner.

Yet, as soon as Duolingo Music was released, I decided to give it a shot.

Currently, I am on Section 3 (the last one), Unit 25/45, so my course is almost over. Would I recommend it to someone with a serious interest in music? Well, yes, but actually no.

Good training for real playing?

It seems that the Duolingo platform is everchanging. Since I have been Duo’s friend for almost 8 years, I can say that despite crises and missteps, he has emerged victorious from everything so far.

But victory for the provider is not always a victory for the user.

I have put serious effort into going through the course at 100 %. My score on all songs — including pop ones — is 1000.

Today I know that if I devoted half as much time to a real piano, I would play it more than decently today.

What are your thoughts?

This is the first time I've heard of this app. I thought Duolingo was just about learning languages. I'll try it right away. Thanks for sharing 💫❤️🙏🏻
