From 2010-2020, tax free income in India increased 5 times From 2020-2025, tax free income increased only by 50%. And this change happened only in new tax regime which has almost no deductions. For the old tax regime, tax free slab is still the same. Based on this observation I have a few questions : -> Is the new tax regime just a distraction for collecting more tax or is this a masterplan to remove all the exemptions from the future? -> Do we deserve a larger tax free slab considering the current segmental inflation? -> Do we just ignore this and give taxes considering the world class infra and healthcare in India ? (Kidding obviously !) -> Will the government ever care for the middle class who is a minority because most votes comes from the people who want freebies? -> Considering this, what do you think of the future of taxation in India? Tax slabs were last changed in the year 2019. Since, then no change in slabs have been made. Let's say, someone was earning 20 lakhs. At that time, he has to pay a certain amount based on that year's slab. Now, after 5 years tax slabs are the same and going by the inflation of the last 5 years, today's 20 lakhs is same as 14 lakh 62 thousands of 2019. How do you see this ? Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has reportedly implemented a new policy linking employees' quarterly variable pay directly to their office attendance, TOI reported. According to the policy, effective April 17, employees must maintain a minimum attendance of 85% to qualify for full quarterly variable pay. Those with attendance levels between 75% and 85% will receive 75% of the variable pay, while those with attendance levels between 60% and 75% will only receive 50%. The policy adjustment follows TCS's decision to end its hybrid work model, requiring employees to work from the office five days a week starting October 1, 2023. The move also reflects the company's shift back to pre-pandemic norms and an effort to ensure physical presence at the workplace. In an internal memo, the company mentioned that employees who fail to meet the 85% attendance threshold may face disciplinary action.
