Away from the Orange and Green arguments about the Irish Sea border, Whitehall emails and documentation leaked to the Belfast Telegraph show the practical implications of it are convulsing parts of the UK Government, with departments confused and at loggerheads over what to do.

The NIO appears to be attempting to temporarily suppress some of these inescapable implications of the Brexit protocol — inescapable, that is, if the Government is to implement what it agreed with the EU — during the Assembly election campaign.
