The events in Syria have shown the reason for Türkiye's presence in this country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Türkiye made this statement during a rally in Sakarya, APA's Türkiye correspondent reports.
Erdogan noted that those who say "What does Türkiye have to do in Syria" are unaware of history: "If the conditions were different when the borders in our region were redrawn after World War I, the cities we call Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Damascus, Raqqa would have been our provinces just like Antep, Hatay, Urfa. Since these cities are outside our borders, we did not have to completely cut off our relations with our people there."
