person: *draws nsfw of minor characters*
people: meh, it is just a drawing. get over it lol.
person: *draws poc depiction of an anime and/or cartoon character*
people: duuuuuh, that is really bad! I am not racist but-
A lot of the time when people are upset over a POC interpretation of another character, it’s because the artist is being a disgustingly racist dick about it, saying stuff like “this is how it should be” or “I fixed it.” If the vibe is instead closer to “this is an alternate design that I created and I like,” they won’t get nearly as much shit for it, usually anyway.
No doubt some people act like ALL POC edits are like this, but many know the difference. Just look at how popular the Brazilian Miku meme got.
This also goes the same with genderbending, queer or otherwise
When someone race swap a white character into a black character, no one bats an eye(most of the time).
But when I use a slightly lighter color by mistake, everyone loses their minds!!!
WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY BATMAN!
This is so true, neither are bad honestly cause they’re just drawings XD
The only time either is bad is when 1. It’s a depiction of a real child. And 2. When it’s done with offensive intent!
Remember these rules people XD
do you mean minor like children or just having a small role? cause I don't think the usual reaction is "get over it" for the former, just saying before this gets taken out of context
Had a similar situation with panty from dragonball. Because she’s a majin she ages differently, but the show acknowledges that she is still a minor in her world. Yet so many people say that shes “legal”. Its so annoying.
NSFW will always exist for everything although it can still be pretty weird. Changing their race is just strange and depending on the way it's done can be really stupid
I mean, keep in mind that the same people making these POC edits will freak out if you do the inverse to an already POC character. It’s a double standard.
And both sides still find NSFW of <18 characters to be pretty weird AT LEAST. Except for a certain insufferable group.
The double standards are crazy, I tell ya.
...but if the artist themselves is actively being racist with their depiction, then yeah, I can see why folks get upset.
But, well, if said folks are already the kinda fellas that watch nsfw stuff of minors regularly, it doesn't matter how much in the right they are with bad depictions of characters, does it?
Im in the Rainworld Fandom, and there are two people i know who have r34 accounts (one admitted it, i found the second through the first). The second person has suggestive art of a few characters, which wouldn't be bad, except the characters in question are CATS. literal ANIMALS, bent over backwards showing their (donkey). I don't care if it's commissioned work, or it's a "fictional species", dignity is not worth the money and sexualizing animals is deplorable.
The first person in question only drew "art" of the humanoid characters, but that doesn't make it better. I hate, absolutely HATE how R34 in general is so normalized.
