Well, I have no idea what Fireborn is. But! I still haven't watched the series that Erich is from (spare time? What's that?), but I love him and how you've written him. So! Bring it on.
Well, Fireborn is a tabletop rpg system, the mechanics of which don’t PARTICULARLY matter since I’m just ganking the setup and fluff. The idea of Fireborn is that the Earth has gone through a handful of “Suns” or “Eras”, each ending with a great catastrophe of some kind.
The previous Era is called the Mythic Era, characterized by anything we currently call “magic” or “legends” existing – faeries, titans, dragons, Atlantis, etc, all existed back in the Mythic Era. That Era ended when a ritual went wrong and opened a hole in the fabric of reality through with Karma (basically magic) and it’s antithesis Taint went rushing out. The loss of such an integral part of the world caused the catastrophic end of the Era, recreated the map, and erased or made dormant most of the magical beings.
the Modern Era is Us Right Now. The game is set shortly after 2001 when Dumbass White Assholes recreate a ritual they have no place recreating and plug that Still Extant Hole which makes Karma start welling up again. The setting is London for various reasons, all nicely world-built and explained (and as a benefit the game which was written in 2006 doesn’t tooooo terribly culture-steal in order to fill out its list of mythical creatures that are showing up again. Besides, who can resist Titania and Oberon returning to the world and starting a Shakespearean actor troupe?)
Anyway, the players get to play Scions, humans that have the souls of dragons from the Mythic Era. A dragon’s schtick is that it’s an Eternal Creation – they can be born as NEW souls, but once they exist, any death is merely a temporary inconvenience because their souls will eventually return with all their memories. In the Mythic Era, “returning” tends to mean literally just “soul reconstitutes body in an Important Place To It”. In the Modern Era, Dragons are reborn in human bodies due to the lack of free Karma, and now that Karma is returning, they’re actually starting to Remember their past again.
(Draconic memories are not infallible, they’re just like our own memories… Dragons can just remember MORE than we can, including what they were doing in past lives.)
As players grow stronger, they get access to certain draconic skills like shapeshifting, and in the Modern Era they slowly gain access to a human-ish-sized version of their Mythic Era Draconic form, one body part at a time (ex: wings, tail, scales, claws, etc)
(Interestingly enough for a game written in 2006 by a division of Blizzard, Dragons as a whole have a very loose relationship with gender; there are canonical non-binary and gender fluid dragons, and all dragons have the ability to shapeshift into at least one other form, gender unimportant.)
So the idea I was playing with in the Discord chat is that all of this happens, Ichigo, Chad, Uryuu, Orihime, and Tatsuki are all Scions in the same Brood (player party with Special Benefits including telepathy), and Ichigo first Wakes Up when Grand Fisher tries to take his mom, thereby keeping Masaki alive. Uryuu wakes up more slowly, but HE clings to his mom and does subconscious Dragony Magic to keep her body alive and fix the issues caused by Auswahlen, meaning she wakes up instead of dying in her coma.
(Look I just.. want the moms around for once.)
Tatsuki wakes up soon after Ichigo does, Orihime’s already known she was Unusual from a young age and now she’s starting to Understand, and poor Chad is alone and able to sense that there’s SOMETHING going on but not able to speak with anyone until he moves to Japan a couple years later.
I need to determine all of their dragon forms, powers, legacies, sires, etc, because that’s going to inform a LOT of how I write this, but I really love a lot of the content for Fireborn, including the fanmade stuff that came out when it became obvious that FFG was dropping Fireborn like a hot potato for Unknown Reasons.
And that’s the concept of Fireborn XD Hope that helped at least a little bit!
Reminder for anyone who might be thinking of interacting with me:
I am like any other human being in that I enjoy validation, and I know how easy it is to think “oh, this person is a creator and therefore fancy and it would only bother them if I ever said hello/talked to them about their stuff/etc/etc”, because I have that mindset all the time. But I just want everyone to know, explicitly, that I am super small-time as a creator. I will always be the exact opposite of bothered to hear from anyone, here or on AO3. I spend a ridiculous amount of the day reloading my email to see if there’s anything new for me to get excited about. I want very much to be interacted with.
Nobody is required to do anything! But if anyone ever wants to send me a random message, a question, a fun fact, a joke that tickles them, a fic prompt (no NSFW), or even something they made with their own time and their own human brain based on my writing? Hesitate precisely zero seconds. It will absolutely not annoy me, or bother me, or anything. There's a good chance it will make my entire day.
Soft Zone(TM) fuzzy thoughts for all of you! And extra happy thoughts for my ace and/or fat people. We're all perfect and valid and worthy just as we are, you guys, I don't make the rules but I will scream them to the stars.
reblogging because YES ALL OF THIS

I have... A new AU again.
The rising “moral panic” in fandoms is not a coincidence, it’s yet another sign that society as a whole is veering towards more conservative, puritanical beliefs - and you have every right to be scared. There have been shitton of “moral panics” throughout history and every single one has been one hell of a circus performance.

There’s people chasing us and I pulled you into the alley with me and wow you’re close Your shirt/jumper was in the laundry pile and I couldn’t help but steal it I’m dying and I’m confessing my love for you Kissing in the rain and getting soaked before running inside laughing Playing with their hair while their head’s in your lap. Jolting awake after a nightmare and being comforted “Good morning, beautiful/handsome” Hands brushing unexpectedly There’s only one bed and we sleep as far away as possible from each other but wake up cuddling You confessed your feelings and we’re about to kiss but we get interrupted Secret relationship We dated in high school but then you moved away but now you’re back in town Both going to grab the same thing and touching hands, then making eye contact. Au where in order for BARF to work you have to jaegar drift with another human being
(there’s nothing about ffh here I haven’t seen it I don’t care about fishbowl man I don’t care what marvel’s said ever)
Listen! The whole concept of BARF is being able to go into your head and fiddle with the bad memories. The danger of getting stuck in a bad memory must be a Lot!!! So,,,,, drifting. Get another person who hasn’t experienced the memory and get them to be your... anchor, basically. They can still get sucked into your memories but vice/versa too, so it balances better.
The presentation in CW was,,, not live. Besides BARF isn’t even the hologram tech that’s been a thing since IM1 it’s just the headset that can read and process memories in a way computers can visualize. It was pre-recorded, and... Rhodey helped. Because who else would there be? And that’s... fun, but it’s... not the worst it could be. Rhodey knows that. He knows that tony very specifically chose this memory to change and present bc it’s personal, but not as much as some of the others, and because there’s something easily changeable that can play out in one scene.
...Rhodey knows, very keenly, because he made Tony promise that he wasn’t going to test this tech alone anymore the first time he found his friend nearly comatose bc he couldn’t get out of his own head. He knows that that’s by far not the worst memory because he’s seen the really really bad ones.
So there’s all of That, the Testing Phase, and ofc u can get some good good winteriron angst w/ Bucky-Boy.

And what exactly do you think “au” stands for? “Accurate universe”?
As Worlds Overlap Part 5 Uryuu sighted down his arrow. Adjusted his aim. Fired. The lone goblin shrieked. Fell. Faded into a swirl of light. “I got it!” Hanae shouted as she hopped down from the seat of the wagon and darted over to the little pile of treasure the defeated monster had left behind. Uryuu nocked another arrow and scanned the area again, searching for any stray monsters, thankful for the clear view…
I keep drawing Bleach, maybe i'll finish this some time, but not today 😂

akaluan reblogged blackkatmagic corisanna Follow damaratsu asked:I'm curious, what's your take on Aizen? Do you think he's as smart as canon/canon makes him out to be? Bc i had this major epiphany about the fake karakura town battle and how Aizen didn't fight very strategically and I wanted to know how you interpret him bc of how strong your Urahara voice is and if youve had your own epiphany like insight into Aizen. It's great that you're feeling better and I hope that garden is giving you peace!! (In both senses of the phrase!)corisanna answered:Sorry it took me so long to answer this. I had to think about how to word it.I absolutely think Aizen is as brilliant as advertised. However, as soon as his decades of elaborate plans start actually working, he fell victim to the enemy of all those who would challenge gods: hubris.select excerpts from Wikipedia:Hubris… describes a personality quality of extreme or foolish pride or dangerous overconfidence, often in combination with (or synonymous with) arrogance. In its ancient Greek context, it typically describes behavior that defies the norms of behavior or challenges the gods, and which in turn brings about the downfall, or nemesis, of the perpetrator of hubris.…Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one’s own competence, accomplishments or capabilities. …A common way that hubris was committed was when a mortal claimed to be better than a god in a particular skill or attribute. Claims like these were rarely left unpunished, and so Arachne, a talented young weaver, was transformed into a spider when she said that her skills exceeded those of the goddess Athena. Additional examples include Icarus, Phaethon, Salmoneus, Niobe, Cassiopeia, and Tereus.…The proverb “pride goeth before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18) is thought to sum up the modern use of hubris. Hubris is also referred to as “pride that blinds” because it often causes a committer of hubris to act in foolish ways that belie common sense. In other words, the modern definition may be thought of as, “that pride that goes just before the fall.” In this way, Aizen is a modern example of the age-old cautionary tale about the downfall of those who think themselves superior to gods.In his secret planning stages, he was meticulously careful with every detail. He did well at the “haha I’m doing this right under their noses” part without blowing it; I think it was due to lack of reaction/feedback/immediate gratification by his enemies. He felt powerful by virtue of moving in the shadows unseen and playing with powers others had no knowledge of. I think things changed for him when he “went public” in the Soul Society arc. When he started seeing open reactions and fear and an entire spirit military scrambling to figure out how badly he’d torn them apart from within and how to fix it or work through it. That had to be a great high. It was a new kind of power… and it was like a slow-acting poison.I do think he did maintain some decent strategy for the battle, but I think he also allowed too much toying around and let himself have too much fun traumatizing shinigami when he could have gone for the goal faster. It’s been awhile since I read it, but I remember noting that Aizen had a lack of urgency during the whole ordeal. I think it was because he got too convinced that his plans were so awesome that struggles against them were pointless, so he found it entertaining to observe the battle like watching a hamster running in a wheel. “Haha, look, it thinks it can actually get somewhere.”He got comfortable in his own superiority and it undermined all his careful planning. You can be the most intelligent, well-educated person in the world and have it amount to nothing if you get so cocky that it becomes a form of ignorance.#aizen sōsuke#meta#headcanons#bleach#nice
akaluan reblogged thefringeperson mentalisttraceur Follow So today I learned that it is technically possible for a person in the US to order insulin online from Canada without a prescription. And that it costs less than the copays/deductibles that many US insurance policies will charge along the way to getting insulin here in the US. And I realized this requires a PSA.Because this is technically illegal to do. You might be easily misled into thinking that it is legal because:US customs only rarely rejects such shipments,as far as I know the US has never prosecuted a person for ordering quantities that are reasonable for a couple months of personal use,Canada does not have any laws making it illegal for their pharmacies to ship insulin to US patients,Canada does not require a prescription at all for insulin,Canada often gets their insulin from the same factories that the US does, literally often the same exact drugs, and with comparable standards of quality and safeguards and regulations,Canadian pharmacies consider shipping to US customers a significant part of their business model, so much so that they have payed for quite a lot of advertising to US customers through Google, andsome US citizens and residents already choose to get their insulin from Canada that way.Wow, just look at all those reasons why you might mistakenly think it is legal - it is affordable, legal and widely accepted on Canada's side, and the insulin comes from legit sources. But to reiterate it is definitely illegal. So you should absolutely never do it, no matter how much you might need insulin to not die.No obligation, but if you could help spread the word of how this seemingly innocent method of getting insulin is actually illegal, you'd be doing a great service to the people who medically need insulin.Otherwise, in a moment of desperation when they cannot afford it or their prescription for it cannot be renewed in time, they might make the wrong decision and buy insulin this illegal way, and that would be bad.#psa#ya def don't do#>.>#that would be Bad#So Terribly Bad#how will the companies survive#hmmm#<.<
akaluan reblogged scriptlgbt Follow hi, i’m a trans dude and i have a story idea involving two of my ocs (G is a bi cis woman and J is a gay trans man) temporarily switching bodies. i’m only ever going to have the narration refer to these characters by the name and pronouns appropriate to the mind/psyche while characters that don’t know they’ve swapped confuse their identities, and ones who do know call them the right names etc.i wanted to play off the situation as somewhat comedic because their characters are so different, but have them bond and come to understand each other better. i wanted to make gender a big theme and show them both being sorta dysphoric over the sexes of these bodies and confused about how to navigate the world in them (but it being especially bad for J because it feels like a “regression”).but i’m worried that some situations i’ve thought up for them could be potentially dicey narrative-wise. these characters don’t know each very well when this happens. G is supportive of trans people (they have a mutual trans friend who she stuck by during his transition) but ignorant of a lot of the details. i sort of wanted to use her ignorance for comedy, but have it be a learning experience for her too. i also wanted to use aspects of the story to explicitly refute the idea people have that cis women and trans men are “essentially the same” due to socialisation and agab.would it be potentially bad if G finds out J is trans through the bodyswap? or at any point interacts with his genitals during the days/weeks spent in his body? (presumably they’d see each other’s bodies while they were inhabiting them) or should i leave it unaddressed? i’m also wondering whether to have them trying to live each other’s lives while they wait for the situation to be solved, or if that’s too potentially distressful from a gender standpoint.-I think it would probably be best if they have an emergency conversation directly after the bodyswap where J lets G know about J being trans, and gives general instructions on how they do body stuff, if applicable. Like if someone swapped bodies with me, I’d let them know about my medications, including testosterone (and how to take it, or offer to help with it), and give them some other personal info about body upkeep. If they’re staying at my place where my body usually lives, I’d give them a tour of where I keep things like meds, menstrual products, which shampoos are mine, etc. In that kind of intro-to-living-in-my-body, having a conversation about consent and things like sex would probably be good, if those things are ever addressed after that. But if it doesn’t come up, I don’t see an issue with leaving that kind of conversation out, I just think it would be a good representation of the body-swap genre to talk about consent. If the characters want to have a “don’t ask/don’t tell” policy for things like jerking off, that’s still something important to establish as the case if applicable. I think if you’re being candid about these things in the plot, just try and make sure there’s a healthy sense of communication between the characters. Moreso than the amount of communication between sex partners, because there’s another layer of intimacy involved in straight-up living in somebody else’s body. I mean, you’re going to be pooping on someone else’s behalf. That’s… a lot. They’ll need to establish a sense of trust early on and go out on a limb for it because they don’t have a choice in the matter. If J informs G of transness before the swap, that would also be fine, but I think at the latest, trying to prevent any more shock value than what would normally come with a coming-out would be ideal.Trust your gut and put yourself in the shoes of the reader, the characters, as many people as possible here. If you’re worried a joke a character makes isn’t clear about what it’s poking fun at, have the character clarify, just to make sure whoever they are joking with knows just as much as the reader. Writers get told a lot to show and not tell but I think that’s over-used advice, especially when it comes to giving proper representation and depicting characters using basic communication skills with each other on things like consent. Don’t be afraid to tell things outright when you feel it helps.- mod nat#for later#trans characters#body swap#consent discussions
akaluan Follow hamelin-born asked:I've been re-reading your dragon!Erich AU over on WordPress, and I must admit - I'm getting a great deal of pleasure imagining the Kankura gang's /reactions/ when they learn the Quincy = Dragon. They’re going to be so /shocked/ about it when it initially comes out! Just the whole dragon thing is incredible and even with the whole “we have superpowers and invaded the land of the dead to save a shinigami” thing kinda pales a bit in comparison to one of their own being a truly mythical creature like a dragon.Ichigo has a single clue that SOMETHING is weird -- “A dragon, Ishida?” Ichigo shouted when the dragon curved back around. “Holding out on me?” Ishida’s startled, almost panicked look made Ichigo’s heart sink; he’d stumbled across something Ishida didn’t feel comfortable with him knowing. -- but he’s not connected this reaction to Quincy = Dragon. He knows that Uryuu is sort of clinging to Erich, and that Erich is being protective over Uryuu, which is the entire reason he’s going to invite Erich to come back to the living world with them. He doesn’t know MUCH about Uryuu yet, but he doesn’t think Uryuu has all that many people that he likes, so CLEARLY the obvious answer is to invite the unknown dragon spirit back with them.Finding out that URYUU is a dragon... Ichigo’s going to be dumbfounded because ????? /dragons are real/???, before taking it in stride. Still a little awed though -- Uryuu will be able to /fly/ when he’s older! and who DOESN’T dream of being something as cool as a mythical creature?Chad is... surprised but (mostly) unphased. Very curious in his quiet way, though! It’s so interesting? Especially because he can’t see anything inhuman about Uryuu that would give the dragon thing away.Orihime is /super/ curious about whether or not that means there are /other/ mythical creatures about! Unicorns? Phoenix? Selkies? What /else/ is out there if dragons are real? Oh, and she really loves the way Erich looks, he’s so pretty and his scales are such a pretty shade of blue and his mane is super soft -- will Uryuu look like that?Uryuu is initially /very/ uncomfortable with the others knowing, but... in the face of their acceptance he starts to relax and enjoy their company, especially when they don’t push him away and he gets to stay with his hoard.#dragon quincy au#hamelin-born#replies
