Annecy winners 2003

The 27th International Festival of Animated Film at Annecy drew to a close on Saturday night with the announcement of this year's winners. From a field of 295 entrants, Japan's Koji Yamamura bagged the grand prix for an animated short with his film Atama Yama (pictured).

Garnering three awards in the shorts section, was Australia's Adam Elliot with claymation film Harvie Krump (1×26'). In the feature film section, the grand prix was also picked up by an Asian competitor, this time China's Toe Yuen with entry My Life As McDull.

French animators Serge Elissalde's Verte scored the grand prize for best TV animation production. Paris-based animation studio Sparx also chalked up an award for the trailer of Robota, an upcoming feature from Star Wars designer Doug Chiang.

Meanwhile, UK-based Cosgrove Hall took the best TV series gong for its series Albie.
