Local factions have declared control over the southern Syrian city of Daraa. Like in Hama, a monument to Hafez al-Assad has also been torn down.
AFP, citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), confirms that 90% of the Daraa province and the city itself have come under rebel control.

Kurdish forces have taken the city of Deir el-Zor in Eastern Syria, Reuters reports.
The US-backed Kurdish SDF is also reportedly advancing in the direction of the Syrian town of Albukamal, on the Iraq border.
