HONG KONG/ TAIPEI -- China has launched an antitrust probe into U.S. chipmaker Nvidia, Beijing's latest response after the U.S. unveiled its most severe round of export controls against the Chinese semiconductor industry.
China's State Administration of Market Regulation said on Monday that Nvidia, the world's most valuable chip developer, had violated Chinese antitrust laws, as well as violated an acquisition agreement reached in 2020 when Beijing granted Nvidia conditional approval for its $6.9 billion acquisition of Israel-based Mellanox Technologies.
