Based on the provided data, it is clear that Vietnam's semiconductor industry lacks a key piece: midstream wafer manufacturing. The country's current semiconductor ecosystem is heavily focused on assembly, packaging, and testing services, with major players like Samsung, Intel, and Onsemi primarily engaged in these areas. Wafer manufacturing, however, is the most capital-intensive segment of the industry and requires extensive expertise in fields such as materials science and precision engineering. Vietnam's limited infrastructure and skilled workforce in this area mean that it has not yet developed a significant wafer fabrication capacity. Therefore, wafer manufacturing remains the missing puzzle piece, essential for the country's long-term growth in the semiconductor value chain.

日本人が絶対読めない日本語😅 Japanese that only English speakers can read! If you read “Soul of Coffee” without any trouble, you probably cannot speak Japanese. This photo is from a cafe in Thailand that had some fun with Japanese fonts. I have seen this at “Japanese” restaurants in the US. It is entirely illegible to native Japanese readers who recognize the characters individually. They have defined sounds in the Japanese language. And they are from different syllabaries making it nearly impossible to decipher. English speakers unaware of those sounds can visualize their own alphabet in the shape of these characters. I post this to remind myself that we don’t always know what we are seeing. Sometimes our own knowledge and background hides the truth that is visible in plain sight. When ICEYE launched their first satellite, it was believed that SAR satellites had to be 1,000 kg class behemoths. We showed that 100 kg (with no loss in resolution) is possible. Now we have launched the largest constellation of SAR satellites. What else is right before our eyes that we fail to recognize? There is still so much more available to discover. See what you’ve been missing. Follow ICEYE. We are leaders in Space. We are looking for the next generation of space leaders to join our teams. https://lnkd.in/grzWk-GB

"Seven & i Decides to Expedite Ito-Yokado Spin-Off" Amidst the threat of a takeover, Seven & i Holdings has decided to expedite its plan to spin off its supermarket division, Ito-Yokado, earlier than initially planned. The move is seen as an attempt to raise the company's stock price and defend against the takeover. In July this year, Canadian convenience store giant Alimentation Couche-Tard proposed a ¥6 trillion acquisition, followed by a revised offer of ¥7 trillion in September, which Seven & i rejected. To quickly boost its corporate value, the company decided to proceed with separating its non-convenience store business. 🗣️ To enhance its corporate value, Seven & i announced plans to strengthen its convenience store business, bringing an end to Ito Yokado's e-commerce services. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. #Sevenandi #ItoYokado #Acquisition #CoucheTard #CorporateRestructuring https://lnkd.in/gn6YbRz4

Next year’s Osaka-Kansai Expo plans to offer free admission for children, which has garnered interest from about 70% of schools in Osaka Prefecture. - https://lnkd.in/g-QK9jDs OSAKA, Jun 03 (News On Japan) - Next year's Osaka-Kansai Expo plans to offer free admission for children, which has garnered interest from about 70% of schools in Osaka Prefecture. https://lnkd.in/gciPFk_y Osaka Prefecture has been promoting a project to invite children from age four through high school to the Expo at no cost, with a survey conducted by the end of May to determine the schools' intentions. Out of 1,900 schools, approximately 70%, or 1,390 schools, expressed their desire to participate. However, about 20% or 310 schools responded that they were "undecided or considering," and the remaining 200 schools did not provide a response. The initiative has faced some criticism over its survey methodology. For example, Mayor Kageyama of Katano City indicated that no schools in his city wished to participate, opting out of the initiative at the school level. Moreover, some critics pointed out that the survey did not offer an option for "not interested," compelling schools to choose "undecided or considering" to avoid follow-up inquiries from the prefectural government. This has led to questions about the integrity of the survey process. Source: YOMIURI Source

MaaS (Mobility as a Service) - The Future of Transportation I want to share with you this post by Hanako Kawasaki about an article on our website written by Kana N. regarding the whole MaaS Phenomenon. The article is in Japanese so for a quick English summary it covers: What is MaaS? Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is revolutionizing the way we move. By integrating various transportation modes like buses, trains, taxis, and bike-sharing into one seamless service, MaaS allows users to plan, book, and pay for their trips using just a smartphone. It represents a paradigm shift from owning vehicles to using mobility services, making travel more convenient and efficient. Why is MaaS Gaining Attention? The potential of MaaS is immense, attracting interest from IT companies, automakers, financial institutions, and energy firms. Beyond improving transportation, MaaS addresses urban planning, environmental issues, and the needs of an aging society. It promises to reduce car dependency, lower environmental impact, and support social inclusion. Stages of MaaS Development MaaS services are typically categorized into five levels: Level 0: Independent transportation services Level 1: Integrated information and route searches Level 2: Unified booking and payment platforms Level 3: Subscription-based services Level 4: Integration with societal goals (yet to be achieved globally) In Japan, most MaaS services are at levels 1-2, while Europe and the US are advancing to level 3, with further progress anticipated. MaaS Business Overview Key players in the MaaS ecosystem include: Mobility Service Providers: Offer car-sharing (e.g., Times Car), bike-sharing (e.g., Hello Cycling), and person-to-person car sharing (e.g., Anyca). Shared Passive Services: Include ride-sharing (e.g., Uber Pool) and on-demand bus and taxi services (e.g., Osaka Metro’s on-demand bus). MaaS Operators MaaS operators provide the platforms and apps connecting services with users. These platforms integrate various transportation options, facilitating easy access to travel information, payments, bookings, and route planning through user-friendly apps. MaaS is set to transform transportation, making it smarter and more sustainable. For more insights and updates on the automotive and mobility sectors, follow Turnpoint Consulting Co., Ltd . ORGANIC RICE - A Healthy and Eco-Friendly Choice On our journey to understand sustainable agriculture, we had the opportunity to collaborate with one of the leading agricultural cooperatives, which has established a cultivation area of over 100 hectares for organic rice farming. With the participation of 65 passionate members, this cooperative has developed a model of organic rice production that is not only environmentally friendly but also ensures the health of consumers. Approximately 30 hectares of this area have been certified organic according to four leading international standards, including USDA (USA), EU (Europe), JAS (Japan), and COR (Canada). Key rice varieties such as ST24 aromatic rice, Dai thom 8, OM4900, and purple herbal rice not only offer distinctive flavors but also contain high nutritional value. This cooperative emphasizes not just the production of clean rice but also aims to create a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. Their common goal with us is to expand the market for organic rice consumption and to raise community awareness about the benefits of using safe organic agricultural products for health. In the context of climate change, one of the greatest challenges the world is facing, we are proud to commit to an organic rice cultivation process using the Alternating Wet and Dry (AWD) method. This method not only optimizes water usage but also has a positive impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to Vietnam's Net Zero goal. We believe that through the application of smart and sustainable farming practices, we are not only providing high-quality rice from Lúa Sạch but also contributing to the global effort to protect our living environment. #OrganicRice #LowCarbonRice #NetZero #SuitainableAgriculture #AWD #ghgemission

Japan Association of Translators
PROJECT Nagoya 2024 Seminar Highlight🎙️ 🗓️Nov. 24, 11:20~ Creating the Story of Your Life: The Role of Translation in Paving Our Unique Paths Jeff Chapman (J-E technical translator, composer) Is translation a “career”? How can we find meaningful direction for our lives through our work? What’s the larger picture of our lives, and how does translation play a part? What makes us feel grounded, secure, confident and motivated to get up every morning? What are we afraid of? How can we contribute to society, our families, friends and peers through our work? Can we design a life doing translation in parallel with something else? Is translation a creative profession? How can we weave the work of translation into the story of our lives? What can we do to become the best at what we want to be? In this talk, we’ll explore and discuss a wide range of philosophical questions about not just translation as a job or as a career, but the overarching story we want to write for our own lives. By looking at the examples and stories of the career paths taken by others, we uncover some practical ways we can find our own paths and “write our own stories,” and learn about the roles that translation might play within. We’ll also share the importance of developing genuine communication and friendships in this ever-changing world, with plenty of resources at the end to help you continue your unique journey. https://lnkd.in/gJwK4dxB #ProjectNagoya

I was interviewed by the language education publisher ALK for their magazine, Japanese Journal. During the interview, Nakayama-san, a Japanese language teacher, asked questions that brought up stories from my past. It was a great chance for me to reflect on how my past and present are connected. I ended up sharing a lot of personal experiences. Some topics were similar to those I discussed in my previous interview with My Eyes Tokyo (linked here: https://lnkd.in/gUQ9E4TC), but this time, the focus was on the journey of becoming a Japanese language teacher and what that’s been like. The interviews complement each other, as they cover different aspects of my story. Later, I realized that Japanese Journal might have had a purpose in mind: to show people the background, personal stories, environment, and working style that make up the life of a Japanese language teacher. Perhaps they wanted to tell future teachers or those questioning their path, "There’s no single right way—just do it your way." This is my personal interpretation, of course, but I hope that my unplanned, imperfect journey can be a bit reassuring to those who might be inspired by it. If knowing that I’ve managed to make it this far in such an “improvised” way can give someone peace of mind, I’d be happy. 😊 One regret was that, with limited time, I couldn’t talk about the many people who helped me at different stages. I’ll try to share more about that on my blog. Japanese Journal also highlights various working styles of other Japanese teachers, so please check it out if you're interested: https://lnkd.in/gvMkAzNb
