Hong Kong Tramways (HKT) celebrates its 120th anniversary. A series of activities, including guided tours and exhibitions, were held at the end of last year. The exhibition period will end on 24 May (Extends to August). It was also previously mentioned that the MTR HK held a long-term exhibition at Hunghom Station, but whether it is good or not is subjective.
Established earlier than HKT, Blackpool Tramways, now under the jurisdiction of Blackpool City Council, has been serving Blackpool since 1885. After enduring World Wars, railway reforms, and the retirement of trams, today it operates entirely with Bombardier low-floor trams. However, it still retains dozens of heritage trams and a depot built in 1935. Blackpool Transport not only deploys heritage trams daily for tour services but also organizes a tour "Tramtown" every week, which includes the workshop areas! Compared to visiting museums or exhibition items, tourists can get up close with these living fossils. This is not unique to the UK, but in the UK, a safety officer is happily assigned to share ghost stories of the depot with everyone.
Blackpool also has a tradition of Christmas Illumination Tours. Many of the heritage trams used for this annual event. Although the Council is not wealthy and maintaining all the old equipment is costly, the fees for these activities are affordable. Maintain vitality by using existing resources to attract tourists from all over the world, unlike just setting up occasional markets to sell $40 pineapple buns!
