I'm officially running to become the next Governor of Virginia. I'm a former CIA case officer, former federal agent, current Member of Congress, and mom to three great kids. I know that when we rise above the chaos and division, we can focus on what matters most to Virginians.
The media could not be played.
I can tell you this — every foreign diplomat and intel officer posted to the United States is surely writing cables back home tonight about the fragility of America’s democracy and the depravity of her President. 1/8
It’s a subpoena, not an invitation. Complying with a Congressional subpoena is not an “existential question”, it’s the law.

Hope Hicks, one of the best-known but least visible former members of President Trump’s White House staff, is facing an existential question: whether to comply with a congressional subpoena nyti.ms/2I329XZ

Today, JD Vance will be campaigning in Virginia. I hope he’ll explain his wish to fire “every civil servant” and replace them with “our people.” Thousands of Virginians are federal employees. Their livelihoods and service as civil servants shouldn’t be political punching bags.
You mean my entire career - in law enforcement & at CIA - has been in public service? Yes, that’s correct. I also have bills to fund the police, fight fentanyl trafficking, & secure the border. That’s what legislators should do- actually address our nation’s toughest challenges.

Your entire career has been funded by taxpayers. You wouldn’t last a day in the hardworking shoes of Americans who are fed up with your Democrat open borders flooding our country with illegals & CCP deadly fentanyl, HIGH inflation, and Dem led FAILURES like Afghanistan. Pathetic. x.com/SpanbergerForV…

However, President Trump is unwilling to accept his loss, and as he grasps at straws to maintain power, he is willing to traffic in conspiracies, shred the faith Americans have in our elections, pressure and lie to election officials, and deny the will of the American people. 8/8
McCarthy’s plan to cut the Department of Homeland Security’s funding by 22% would mean less secure borders and ports of entry. That’s just the reality. I’m a former federal agent & CIA officer who worked narcotics cases and tracked cartels. Here are a few of my concerns: 1/

Placating one man’s ego as he undermines our nation’s commitment to what has set us apart for centuries — free and fair elections that honor the will of the people — is dangerous and a dereliction of your duty. He lost the election. You know it. He knows it. 2/4
I’m glad he *now* understands how important military aid is to Ukraine. This is why those of us who understood the Russian threat to Ukraine found it unthinkable [and impeachable] that Pres Trump threatened military aid in order to extort Zelensky into foreign interference.

Yesterday, my opponent said that "we have to" shut down the federal government, because she doesn't agree with the political party in charge. She does not understand the catastrophic impacts of shutdowns on Virginia – home to thousands of proud, career public servants. 1/4
He’s calling for the “eradication” of people. This is evil and dangerous. This was in front of thousands at a Republican conference. Every person who believes that calling for the “eradication” of others is wrong must denounce it. There can be no “what he meant was” excuses.

This week, Governor Youngkin refused to sign a bill to protect access to contraception. Instead, he gutted the bill’s protections for IUDs, birth control, and emergency contraceptives. As the next Governor of Virginia, I will defend the right to contraception for all Virginians.
JD Vance has said that “every civil servant” should be fired and replaced with partisan loyalists — “our people.” That’s a threat to Virginia’s economy and an attack on the career public servants in our federal workforce.
A father, grandfather, and husband is in brain surgery after an act of heinous political violence and at a political rally for my opponent, our Governor taunts his wife because he disagrees with her politics? I hope he’ll apologize and show humanity towards the Pelosi family.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) seems to joke about the assassination attempt on Speaker Nancy Pelosi while campaigning for GOP congressional candidate Yesli Vega: “There’s no room for violence anywhere, but we’re going to send her back to be with him in California.”

He did it in Helsinki, and he’s doing it again. The President of the United States is minimizing an attack against our nation and defending Russia at the expense of protecting our country and security. It’s as astounding and dangerous as it is expected from this President.

Per the US Constitution, it is Congress that decides when to go to war. It is not the executive branch and it certainly isn’t Saudi Arabia. #ArticleI

Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!
When voters wonder what’s wrong with Washington-> this is it. If our campaign finance reform & anti-corruption bill doesn't have enough votes in the Senate to pass, let’s see it. That one man could deny a vote on a good governance bill he fears shows the problem w/our system.
