Monash University cuts ties with Andrew Jaspan’s 360info
The decision comes after consultation with staff over the future of the partnership, which was instrumental in 360info’s launch and accounted for a significant portion of its revenues.
Monash University has cut ties with 360info, an open source research newswire launched by The Conversation’s founder Andrew Jaspan that relied on the university for a substantial portion of its funding.
360info will continue operating despite Monash’s withdrawal, but the newswire will immediately shed 10 staff positions funded by the partnership, bringing its headcount down from 24 to 14.
As first reported by Capital Brief, the decision comes on the heels of a weeks-long consultation period with staff over the future of the partnership, which was instrumental in 360info’s launch,
Monash confirmed the outcome in a statement on Tuesday. A spokesman for the university said it had considered all feedback from staff.
