#GoodNews Westies! We’ve just awarded the contract to operate the Jurong Region Line (#JRL) to the joint venture between SBS Transit Rail and RATP Dev Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of the French public transport operator, RATP Dev.
SBST Transit Rail and RATP Dev Asia Pacific will operate the line for 9 years, with an option to extend another 2 years. During this time, they have committed to use the experience of RATP Dev to build local capabilities in rail operations and maintenance.
JRL, our 7th MRT line, will open in phases from 2027. It’ll enhance connectivity in western Singapore, including NTU, Jurong Industrial Estate, and Jurong Innovation District.
The operator for CRL will be selected at a later stage.

When everything is brand new, any local operator can also operate the trains smoothly. It's after the 10th years where the real challenge will come.
Disappointed that even after a few decades operating the MRT, they still couldn't train up competency l…

Dollars and sense issue. SBST is cheaper quote. Not sure if there will be a fare increase down the road because over promised. 😆
