As another early-bird backer, I just want to make it clear that if there is not more information released very soon about the actual specifics of gameplay, including more information about the rules, I will cancel my pledge before the end of the campaign.
Andy Patschull
So, let me get this straight. We have questions and concerns about the project itself. Quality, what the board looks like, how the game will play, if the stretch goals could be adjusted, why there has been complete radio silence from you guys and the only response we get is an apology that someone mentioned CMON? In the grand scheme of things that is extremely insignificant. Your reference of CMON isn't going to stop people from backing this project. What will get people to back this project is glaringly obvious if you guys listen to what people are actually saying in these comments rather than giving half baked responses that boil down to, "We'll look into it."
My advice:
Cancel this project. It is clear no one in your company knows how to run a Kickstarter campaign. Come back when everything is actually good with the game. I know the game will play poorly because of the absolute fear of showing the rulebook. Fix it, get your "Kickstarter Project Manager" trained in running a Kickstarter, have 1 or 2 people join them so it is a small team that has an easy time communicating with everyone and themselves.
Lay down goals and ideas that could be presented to the public for actually achievable goals.
Have rewards/goals for people that can't pitch in the price for the full priced product. I'd even recommend a digital version even because things like Table Top Simulator is a thing that people use now.
With that last point, playable digital demo for people for $20 and let them increase their pledge in a pledge manager after the Kickstarter finishes.
This will let people know what all the money will go towards, this will give people what they want in regards to communication, this will allow people to feel safe in knowing their money isn't just being wasted. Nearly $400 is too much of an ask for something with this poor communication or content. If you think people will give you $400 for something that may or may not be good, then I have bad news for you. Most people don't have that much money to throw around at whatever they want at the moment.

A part of us will cancel, or just drop it to 100 yen, as I did, to keep track and react. Because if someone is not an early bird, there is no benefit of having 100yen or 65000 yen bid....
And if you are not able to do it in the last days for whatever reason, at least you should be ok, "investing" 100 yen
Creator also said there will be a pledge manager after too, so always the chance to go up, but not down

I wonder if we should do a mass tweets tagging Sega and Atlus about the treatment on this KS. We have nearly 13 days left and after that last update everything feels like a big joke.
Maybe tweet something that Ian Mac Coll said. It hits all our points
But if you keep going on this path, the amount of backers will come crashing down around December 11th. Just know that every single one of us can drop this at any time.

My mind is still boggled by this "controversy" about mentioning CMON. Didn't they just reference CMON for the quality level they're shooting at?
I mean, CMON didn't try to avoid talking about other companies in this exact way. In the comments for Sedition Wars, they talked about how the material would be the same material used by Privateer Press.
Loads of Kickstarters use other company's miniatures placed side by side with their own in order to show us size comparisons and the like, or maybe mentioned another company to talk about scale or material. This hasn't ever caused confusion before.
I just plain do not get why this is an issue for this project, and why communication needs to be stalled because of it.
Ian MacColl
Given the update it seems like they're taking the CMON thing very seriously. Even though none of us care about that.
Whereas our actual issues, lack of rules/gameplay, unobtainable stretchgoals, high price point, readability of cards, lack of communication and proper answers, how can we trust them to hire someone to translate the cards, etc. They seem not too concerned with.
Mark CashmanSuperbacker
Agreed. I'll give it a few days and i'll list all the outstanding issues that I can see still for this campaign. Not that it makes any difference really. They have over 500k and will be quite happy to walk away with that amount of funding. I just hope we are all wrong and they deliver a cracking game......
Dane Tripp-Peters
ICREA,
We want a rulebook or a video of gameplay.
We want stretch goals reconsidered.
We want concerns about the GAME addressed. We don't care that CMON was mentioned. We just want to see the board game in action or a rulebook.
I don't know how else to ask thus. That is what most people here want.

I was hoping to read a real update and instead read the most absurd straw man apology I've ever seen. I assure you, nobody was genuinely worried about CMON being referenced. Just read the hundreds of concerned comments as to why you're not gaining backers. Take some responsibility here. If you intend on making a well designed, fun and honest board game then cancel this Kickstarter and do more research and planning before trying again in several months at the earliest, with the intention to actually address the overwhelming concerns listed below. If all you want is money then do the same. Running this campaign to the ground is a lose lose scenario for everyone. Expect to see my early backer pledge disappear before the final days if this continues to go ignored. I wonder how Atlus feels about this unfolding disaster.
Nickollas Nunes
Number of backer is declining. Somebody with an Xwitter account should tag Atlus and SEGA and ask how do they feel about this
catofulthar
Honestly, I doubt icrea has no one can understand English enough to use Kickstarter, a service from USA, or they just plays fool to swindle huge money for small company… 100 million yen without work, and some small apologies, is attractive so much.
The seem more concerned with their link to CMON and the backlash from that than to answer all the other questions of the backers. The link to the same factory used by cmon wasn't even one of the concerns........days are passing quickly.....however, they are getting more backers slowly (somehow)
Michael Ortiz
Just as backers go up they still go back down.
This campaign is ridiculous. 2 people mention Cmon and that's the APOLOGY update.
This site tracks campaigns daily funding, backers, and comments. Yesterday they only gained 1, 0 the day before, and 1 the day before that.
They seem to think we're more concerned that they mentioned CMON instead of everything else, and now they'll be interacting even less with us as a result. Their priorities are way off.
Ian MacColl
So because someone mentioned CMON communications will be delayed now. So they weren't before, seriously? And you said you aim to provide accurate and trustworthy responses. Most of them were blanket statements saying you'll look into it and get back to us. Are you stalling for time hoping we'd all keep our pledges or what. Are you still considering releasing a rulebook. What about stretchgoals and how they're unlocked, you said you'd be looking into that but we've not heard anything still, and now communications is going to be even more limited than before.
Michael Ortiz
I know. This feels like a joke.
Michael Ortiz
We waited for all these answers and because 2 people mentioned Cmon we got an Update 3 that was an apology... wth
Nickollas Nunes
So, let me understand this... We have been complaining about lack of communication, about the fact that to this day we don't have a rule book or a game play, and after a day of radio silence you come back and your priority is "we are sorry that we mentioned CMON"? And your measure is TO MAKE COMMUNICATIONS SLOWER?!?!? This more and more feels like it not only isn't targeted towards the international market, but you don't care about your customers even in the japanese market. You want to walk away with our money and deliver (if you deliver) a subpar product.
Again, DO NOT TRUST the Early Birds backers. If this doesn't change drastically I will cancel my pledge December 11th, and I'm sure plenty of people will do the same. You are charging an obscene amount of money for this project and this isn't the right way to treat your customers.
For Japanese backers considering the same: Remember that you cannot cancel your pledge 24h before the deadline, so do it at most December 11th to guarantee that you don't fund this.
Hi Nickollas, Thank you for your kindness. Your JP comments help us so much.
As almost JP fans are so, I’m new to kickstarter project and confusing one thing. I thought backers can cancel pledge 24h before, but if that makes project away from goal of funding, we can’t.
This project set December 14th 0900 UTC as deadline. Even if we have to convert UTC and JST, there are still 1 or 2 days.
Is there something wrong in my understanding?
Nickollas Nunes
Hey Cathofulthar,
No, you are absolutely correct, the issue came from the fact of the conversion. To me, the project deadline is Fri, December 13 2024 4:00 PM CET. So, in my case, I have to cancel at most Thursday December 12 4:00PM. This is a work-day, so in order to keep it safe I recommended (and I myself will likely do this) that the orders are cancelled by December 11th.
I've been asking about the stretch goal issue to be fixed since day 3. The answer was We'll look in to it. At least asked to please Stretch goals to funding and add achievements to generate attention.
To be honest it looks like they wanted to secure 1000 units sold and lay low the rest the project.
As a non-Japanese fan of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, I hope you understand that I write these words with the best of intentions. Please reconsider this Kickstarter campaign. Like myself, you have plenty of fans that were really excited about this game. However so far everything about this campaign has been handled very poorly. I will demonstrate some examples:
- I was an Early Bird, got into the project in the first few minutes. After your first 3-day radio silence I cancelled my pledge. I kept checking to see if things would get better, and all of a sudden I saw ANOTHER Early Bird spot appear, and I took it. Even people with the Early Birds are cancelling, and honestly, I will be holding on to mine for now, but by the way things look I will probably cancel it before the deadline.
- The stretch goals are unreasonable. Right now you are still gaining backers at a very slow rate, but the backers that are bleeding out should be considered. And then we have the actual prizes, 2000 backers for a dice? 3000 for holo cards? Those are two things that I can guarantee I didn't ask for.
- The timeline is also weird. While this account that I'm using is new, I have backed Frosthaven before. FH was a much more experienced board game company and they didn't promise to prepare and deliver everything in a few months. This timeline seem very unrealistic
- Your communication still bad, you go days without updating or answering people. If you're changing things internally to accommodate the KS, you should do it faster.
- Gameplay. This is the biggest issue. You have the rulebook done, right? Just ready to print, after all you've worked on it for the past 2 years... Upload it. That simple. You may be thinking about making a video, about showing things, but this should've been done BEFORE the Kickstarter was launched, not after. Right now the impression that I'm getting is that either the board game is bad/boring and you're stalling to walk away with our money and deliver a bad product, or you don't have the rules ready to go, and I don't need to mention what a big problem this would be. If neither of those things are true, then the only way to solve this is by uploading the rulebook.
Don't be too confident on the current backer numbers, there are people like me that might wait until last minute to cancel if things don't turn 180º. And if you're not planning on turning things 180º, but want to deliver a good product, I suggest you cancel the current Kickstarter and come back later after you have learned how to launch a Kickstarter campaign.
If all you want is to take some easy money from folks then keep going, maybe by the end you'll scrape just enough to fund the game.

Cathofulthar
I've been asking about the stretch goal issue to be fixed since day 3. The answer was We'll look in to it. At least asked to please Stretch goals to funding and add achievements to generate attention.
To be honest it looks like they wanted to secure 1000 units sold and lay low the rest the project.

Dear ICREA.

Not based off what they said in the front page.
