For both questions: I think heros anger is justified. He holds it in in general. Held it in with Sunnys mom real bad (and as someone whos going into the medical field hearing a woman blatanley ignore medical advice must be annoying). See the person who, In a sense almost killes Sunny to keep him safe. And then also seeing the person who almost killed him, causing Sunny to do something horribly tramatizing, know EXACTLY how much it was messing with him. And then learn he was intending to hit Sunny with no regards to him dying or not. I'd be surprised if he wasn't mad.
