I was hoping to read a real update and instead read the most absurd straw man apology I've ever seen. I assure you, nobody was genuinely worried about CMON being referenced. Just read the hundreds of concerned comments as to why you're not gaining backers. Take some responsibility here. If you intend on making a well designed, fun and honest board game then cancel this Kickstarter and do more research and planning before trying again in several months at the earliest, with the intention to actually address the overwhelming concerns listed below. If all you want is money then do the same. Running this campaign to the ground is a lose lose scenario for everyone. Expect to see my early backer pledge disappear before the final days if this continues to go ignored. I wonder how Atlus feels about this unfolding disaster.
catofulthar
Honestly, I doubt icrea has no one can understand English enough to use Kickstarter, a service from USA, or they just plays fool to swindle huge money for small company… 100 million yen without work, and some small apologies, is attractive so much.
The seem more concerned with their link to CMON and the backlash from that than to answer all the other questions of the backers. The link to the same factory used by cmon wasn't even one of the concerns........days are passing quickly.....however, they are getting more backers slowly (somehow)
Michael Ortiz
Just as backers go up they still go back down.
This campaign is ridiculous. 2 people mention Cmon and that's the APOLOGY update.
This site tracks campaigns daily funding, backers, and comments. Yesterday they only gained 1, 0 the day before, and 1 the day before that.
They seem to think we're more concerned that they mentioned CMON instead of everything else, and now they'll be interacting even less with us as a result. Their priorities are way off.
Ian MacColl
So because someone mentioned CMON communications will be delayed now. So they weren't before, seriously? And you said you aim to provide accurate and trustworthy responses. Most of them were blanket statements saying you'll look into it and get back to us. Are you stalling for time hoping we'd all keep our pledges or what. Are you still considering releasing a rulebook. What about stretchgoals and how they're unlocked, you said you'd be looking into that but we've not heard anything still, and now communications is going to be even more limited than before.
Michael Ortiz
I know. This feels like a joke.
Michael Ortiz
We waited for all these answers and because 2 people mentioned Cmon we got an Update 3 that was an apology... wth
Nickollas Nunes
So, let me understand this... We have been complaining about lack of communication, about the fact that to this day we don't have a rule book or a game play, and after a day of radio silence you come back and your priority is "we are sorry that we mentioned CMON"? And your measure is TO MAKE COMMUNICATIONS SLOWER?!?!? This more and more feels like it not only isn't targeted towards the international market, but you don't care about your customers even in the japanese market. You want to walk away with our money and deliver (if you deliver) a subpar product.
Again, DO NOT TRUST the Early Birds backers. If this doesn't change drastically I will cancel my pledge December 11th, and I'm sure plenty of people will do the same. You are charging an obscene amount of money for this project and this isn't the right way to treat your customers.
For Japanese backers considering the same: Remember that you cannot cancel your pledge 24h before the deadline, so do it at most December 11th to guarantee that you don't fund this.
Hi Nickollas, Thank you for your kindness. Your JP comments help us so much.
As almost JP fans are so, I’m new to kickstarter project and confusing one thing. I thought backers can cancel pledge 24h before, but if that makes project away from goal of funding, we can’t.
This project set December 14th 0900 UTC as deadline. Even if we have to convert UTC and JST, there are still 1 or 2 days.
Is there something wrong in my understanding?
Nickollas Nunes
Hey Cathofulthar,
No, you are absolutely correct, the issue came from the fact of the conversion. To me, the project deadline is Fri, December 13 2024 4:00 PM CET. So, in my case, I have to cancel at most Thursday December 12 4:00PM. This is a work-day, so in order to keep it safe I recommended (and I myself will likely do this) that the orders are cancelled by December 11th.
I've been asking about the stretch goal issue to be fixed since day 3. The answer was We'll look in to it. At least asked to please Stretch goals to funding and add achievements to generate attention.
To be honest it looks like they wanted to secure 1000 units sold and lay low the rest the project.
As a non-Japanese fan of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, I hope you understand that I write these words with the best of intentions. Please reconsider this Kickstarter campaign. Like myself, you have plenty of fans that were really excited about this game. However so far everything about this campaign has been handled very poorly. I will demonstrate some examples:
- I was an Early Bird, got into the project in the first few minutes. After your first 3-day radio silence I cancelled my pledge. I kept checking to see if things would get better, and all of a sudden I saw ANOTHER Early Bird spot appear, and I took it. Even people with the Early Birds are cancelling, and honestly, I will be holding on to mine for now, but by the way things look I will probably cancel it before the deadline.
- The stretch goals are unreasonable. Right now you are still gaining backers at a very slow rate, but the backers that are bleeding out should be considered. And then we have the actual prizes, 2000 backers for a dice? 3000 for holo cards? Those are two things that I can guarantee I didn't ask for.
- The timeline is also weird. While this account that I'm using is new, I have backed Frosthaven before. FH was a much more experienced board game company and they didn't promise to prepare and deliver everything in a few months. This timeline seem very unrealistic
- Your communication still bad, you go days without updating or answering people. If you're changing things internally to accommodate the KS, you should do it faster.
- Gameplay. This is the biggest issue. You have the rulebook done, right? Just ready to print, after all you've worked on it for the past 2 years... Upload it. That simple. You may be thinking about making a video, about showing things, but this should've been done BEFORE the Kickstarter was launched, not after. Right now the impression that I'm getting is that either the board game is bad/boring and you're stalling to walk away with our money and deliver a bad product, or you don't have the rules ready to go, and I don't need to mention what a big problem this would be. If neither of those things are true, then the only way to solve this is by uploading the rulebook.
Don't be too confident on the current backer numbers, there are people like me that might wait until last minute to cancel if things don't turn 180º. And if you're not planning on turning things 180º, but want to deliver a good product, I suggest you cancel the current Kickstarter and come back later after you have learned how to launch a Kickstarter campaign.
If all you want is to take some easy money from folks then keep going, maybe by the end you'll scrape just enough to fund the game.

Given that the stretch goals are based on backer numbers and not amount of money pledged for some odd reason, add ons wouldn't increase the backer count. Also given how expensive the base game is already I doubt people would be ready to give them even more money. They said they are reconsidering unlocks days ago now. The longer they leave it the less time they'll have to unlock things further. So hopefully they don't take too much longer to have it thought out.

I don't understand. What is going on with CMON Japan?
The statements I've found don't make a whole lot of sense to me -like why would CMON be upset about someone else using their manufacturer?

Ah, “Don’t cause trouble for others” is a cultural trait unique to Japanese people, isn’t it?
Let me explain my understanding.
This time, ICREA officially mentioned the name of their competitor, CMON.
In a typical Japanese company, it is unthinkable to mention the name of an unrelated company without permission.
This is because, as in this case, users might inquire about CMON’s involvement, causing trouble for CMON.
In fact, CMON was troubled by the suspicion of involvement and had to make an official announcement.
However, CMON Japan said “in a certain Kickstarter project” without specifying this project.
This is the usual practice for Japanese companies.
Let’s call it “KIKUBARI.”
You might think that “foolish users are to blame,” but in Japan, it is considered bad to make statements that could cause misunderstandings in the first place.
Nickollas Nunes
@jp.prius So if I understand this correctly, ICREA is acting poorly according to Japanese cultural behavior. Which is amazing, since they are doing poor business practices for both Japanese and foreigners LOL
Drew
It can't be about not causing misunderstandings, because the way CMON Japan replied, it could have been about any Kickstarter project, right? Denouncing "a certain Kickstarter project" and leaving us to piece together what that means isn't exactly the height of clear communication.
But okay, there's a cultural expectation that a business never mentions another business by name, so ICREA made a faux pas.
Courtney
Thanks for your comments, I have some more questions about the game I hope you can answer:
1- is this a 2 or 4 player game? Or is it a 2, 3 or 4 player game?
2- In a 3 player game each player could control 1 alignment (e.g. player 1 is Law, player 2 is Neutral, Player 3 is Chaos) but in a 4 player game how would this work? Would there be instances where 2 players are fighting over demons of the Law alignment? Whilst the other 2 players freely get to interact with Neutral and Chaos?
3- The campaign says that there is a "Final Phase" and the board flips, but the board only shows enough space for 2 players. In a 4 player game what happens to the other 2 players? Do they not get to participate in the last bit of the game, after spending so long playing with the other players?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Michael Ortiz
This is looking to be 2 and up for players. So 2,3,4 people.
You could homebrew rules for a solo game or even 5 to 6 players.
real
In Today on the world,Sell one 300 to 400 Usd value boardgame, the Kickstarter campaign is no complete information about the game is shameful。
Do you see other boardgame KS page or gamefound page, your campaign makes the Japanese feel ashamed......
Not prepared enough, not professional, and a waste of a brand’s potential.

Is it super controversial for them to say that they're considering X manufacturer that worked for CMON before? Or did they say something about working with CMON?
I believe that CMON rarely state what manufacturer or manufacturers they use (and have used, since they've switched a couple times that i know of).
The manufacturers themselves frequently reveal to their clients what projects they've worked on so that the clients can know what to expect.
So- I'm confused about this particular bit of controversy
Michael Ortiz
Seriously, watching the backers go up and down on this. Since the start it feels dead. They added a table if contents 13 days after the project started.
I'm really wondering what is going on. You'd think they'd learn from some popular projects.
We have been contacted by a user regarding the use of CMON's name in relation to the manufacture of figures in a certain Kickstarter project, and we are very confused. CMON and CMONJAPAN are not involved in this matter in any way.”

Whether its a good idea to mention who else has used that factory is irrelevant. It shouldnt make any difference whatsoever and they never claimed to be working with CMON. The creator posted this reply down below and I think it's good information to spread. I also did Google translation for people that don't speak Japanese:
Thank you for your question.
①Does the moon phase affect negotiating with a demon?
For example, is there a risk as you get closer to the full moon?
If there is a bias in attributes, will it be harder for a demon to become your ally, whether it is Law, Chaos, or Neutral?
→When negotiating with a demon, the demon may ask you to fight or negotiate for victory points, but the strength of the demon in this battle and the degree of victory points it requests will change depending on the moon phase. For example, in the original game, the demon becomes more violent during full moons and new moons, but in the board game, during full moons and new moons, the demon requests lower victory points than usual, and in battles, it becomes stronger. There are eight types of moon phases, and they change every round.
②Can you freely choose which demon to join at first?
Do you negotiate with the demon that appears when you draw a demon card? Or can you freely nominate it?
Three demons are always revealed, and when negotiating with a demon, the player chooses one of the three and negotiates with it.
③Does the player's attribute change? 』
Will allies with the same attribute receive some kind of buff? Will the abilities of opposing allies decrease?
For example, will the number of times the dice are rolled increase or decrease?
→The player starts the game in a neutral state. When making a demon a friend, if the demon is Law or Chaos, that attribute will be increased by +1. There are also events where you can choose from a number of options, and the attribute will change depending on the answer. When the player's Law or Chaos attributes reach a certain value, there are many demons that will be powered up when fighting with Law or Chaos demons. In exchange, you will not be able to summon demons with the opposite attribute (if Chaos is 3 or more, you will not be able to summon Law demons). Grimoires (combat support items) also have strengths that change depending on the attribute.
④『Are defeated demons lost?』
Are defeated demons lost or can they be revived?
→Demons that have been defeated can be summoned again by performing the action ``Recovery''. Initially, you can summon up to three demons, and defeated demons will be unable to act after using up a summoning slot, so you need to time your recovery accordingly. Also, you can recover multiple demons with one recovery action.
I watched a video of the general game progress, but I still don't quite get how to enjoy the game, so I'd like to see a rulebook like that, but is that difficult?
I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for the rulebook. We are currently preparing more information about the detailed gameplay, the fun of this work, and its features.
Can you guarantee the quality of the figures, which are one of the selling points?
We are currently considering partnering with an experienced and proven factory that has produced various board games with miniatures in the past to manufacture the game.
thanks btw where u found these answers?

@jp.prius So if I understand this correctly, ICREA is acting poorly according to Japanese cultural behavior. Which is amazing, since they are doing poor business practices for both Japanese and foreigners LOL
This is looking to be 2 and up for players. So 2,3,4 people.
You could homebrew rules for a solo game or even 5 to 6 players.
1000% agreed
Is it super controversial for them to say that they're considering X manufacturer that worked for CMON before? Or did they say something about working with CMON?
I believe that CMON rarely state what manufacturer or manufacturers they use (and have used, since they've switched a couple times that i know of).
The manufacturers themselves frequently reveal to their clients what projects they've worked on so that the clients can know what to expect.
So- I'm confused about this particular bit of controversy
Seriously, watching the backers go up and down on this. Since the start it feels dead. They added a table if contents 13 days after the project started.
I'm really wondering what is going on. You'd think they'd learn from some popular projects.

For All people who spend money to this project.
CMON JAPAN officiall said,
“Important Notice
We have been contacted by a user regarding the use of CMON's name in relation to the manufacture of figures in a certain Kickstarter project, and we are very confused. CMON and CMONJAPAN are not involved in this matter in any way.”
Ahh well thats ok, many factories can use the same production companies. That isn't a worry at all :) (for once)
Whether its a good idea to mention who else has used that factory is irrelevant. It shouldnt make any difference whatsoever and they never claimed to be working with CMON. The real problem is the fools who have reportedly messaging CMON about this. All they managed to do was confuse and waste the time of dome poor CMON employees.
What's the "PledgeMoney"? I'm afraid of you meaning Pledge manager.
"PledgeMoney"とは何ですか?まさかプレッジマネージャー…
I am glad to see the creators are trying to turn this around with responses and addressing concerns, this is the kind of update we have been waiting for.
I hope in time, you can fully answer our questions with certainty or delay the game so that you have more time to polish this game and address the most asked concerns.
