Known people from Nabatea[]
- Sothis - The progenitor god and creator of the Nabateans
- Seiros - The last child of the progenitor god
- Cichol - Father of Cethleann and one of the Four Saints
- Cethleann - Daughter of Cichol and one of the Four Saints
- Indech - One of the Four Saints
- Macuil - One of the Four Saints
Etymology[]
Nabatea is likely named after the Nabataeans. They were people who inhabited northern Arabia and established a kingdom that existed from the 4th century BC until 106 AD when it was conquered by the Roman Empire. A major Nabatean city was Petra, a name of one of the characters in Three Houses who alludes to her people worshipped the Nabateans.
Trivia[]
- For unknown reasons, the Progenitor God's children are each a different breed of dragon, which is revealed through the Dragon Signs that bestow a Crest on New Game+, along with descriptions of certain crests. Macuil is a Wind Dragon and his crest bestows power over wind, Cichol is an Earth Dragon and his crest gives power over land, Cethleann is a Light Dragon and her crest gives power over light, etc.
- "The song of Nabateans" is sang by Rhea in the ball.
- Nabatea may share its etymological origin with the Nabata Desert of the Elibe Series. Where Nabatea is the home of a race of dragons, the Nabata Desert is home to the secluded village of Arcadia, where dragons and humans lived in harmony.
- While the Nabateans are also known as the "Children of the Goddess," it is left ambiguous whether or not Macuil, Cichol, and Indech are truly Children of the Goddess herself like Seiros or simply her descendants.
- Petra will make a comment about Byleth's green hair after they obtain it, revealing the people of Brigid worshipped individuals who also had green hair and could fly. This would be elaborated on in the Dream Interview, where it goes into detail about what the Nabateans who did not reside in Zanado did. On a related note, Petra's mention as to how her people worshipped Nabateans references the fact that the real life Arab Nabateans had a major city known as Petra.
