May I add some Universally Loved -Bad end ideas? The towns people gather around the grave of Sunny and some of them ask why the kids where placing flowers on 2 graves that day.

They learn that Sunny's sister also had taken her own life a long time ago and they feel guilt that they never helped him when he clearly was struggling for so long.

(also for some fluff maybe they hear that that Basil kid attempted and they try harder to not fail this one)

Adding to that I think that a lot of them vaguely knew about Mari and feel bad about not connecting the dots sooner

And yeah i think the idea with basil would be really bittersweet
