NEW YORK -- Nissan Motor will reduce its U.S. output by 17% through the end of March compared with a year earlier, in an extension of ongoing production cuts, Nikkei has learned.

The move will affect the Canton assembly plant in the state of Mississippi and the Smyrna factory in Tennessee. Suppliers were informed of the decision as of Monday.
