NTA, but it has way more locations and characters, a fun sibling rivalry angle, and really nice character and set designs. There's also a real sense of progress (if you watch it in the dvd order), where they go from being pretty incompetent strangers to a tight-knit team that (more or less) defeats Robotnik at the end. Also, Tamers' continuation is the best indie animation ever produced

SoA didn't give a shit because they had like three employees total at the time and one of them was the fucking Archie Sonic comic editor double dipping as his own boss, they knew nothing that was going to be made would be relevant because Adventure was going to come along and sweep everything away so they got a cartoon out to keep the brand name on kids TV as cheaply as possible. Being cheap meant DiC didn't care so they just dusted off a rejected cartoon concept and changed around a few names to technically make it Sonic, then loaded it up with a song an episode so they could charge twice for the same episode since they would be charging for the music as well.

In short, Japan didn't care enough to tell anyone what Adventure was going to be, and that meant nobody in the US cared enough to make it accurate.

It's the worst Sonic cartoon. it's got a set-up like it's meant to be telling an ongoing story. But like most cartoons of that era it's just an episodic monster of the day with a plot that goes nowhere and didn't even end. It's the kind of show that makes it pretty clear why western animation was set to get absolutely BTFO by anime.

Adventures of Sonic was always better because at least it's wasn't pretending that it's insane madness plots was going anywhere, and technically even that had a conclusion.
