𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗔 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗔 𝗚𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 Dear clients, team & everyone who helped make this dream possible, six years ago, we opened our first location, Café Janis, with my former partner Margaux Marcy, who is now focusing on her own project at @ofakarri.com. Back then, our experience in hospitality was mostly limited to student jobs. We opened Café Janis in five weeks, underestimating how long it actually takes to build something good back then. On opening day, I thought it was fantastic. My mom (the best ❤️) was kind enough to give me the impression that it was actually great. In reality, it was far from perfect — it was a disaster. Nothing went as planned. Yet, this rough start was a blessing in disguise. It forced us to confront the harsh truth: if the only people present there were Margaux, myself and a few sympathetic friends — was not due to poor promotion or a misunderstanding of the concept, but because we were simply not doing a good job. So we decided to close for 2 months, attributing it to an electrical issue and we kept nothing but our manager Ana, who's now co-managing Javá - she's killing it! This initial failure was pivotal. It taught me how challenging a failure could mentally be and opened the door for us to transform Janis into a place where I like to start my day — along with many others who aren’t just there out of pity, but actually enjoy what we created. Our journey taught us to adapt and improve. This growth helped us refine our vision of hospitality and what we wanted to offer our clients, team, and community. With solid company values and with more experience on our back, we can proudly announce that the time has come: 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗯𝗼𝗻! 𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻, a city known for its fierce F&B competition, from the most addictive fast food to upscale Mayfair establishments and everything in between, including the richest mix of Middle Eastern, Indian, and Asian influences… well, London has it all. So, why London? I assume part of it is ego — the will to prove that we can thrive in such a dynamic market. More importantly, it's the vibrant energy and opportunities the city presents. While we'll continue our operations in Portugal, we are confident that London will inspire us to elevate our standards and enhance our operations across both current and future venues in Lisbon. From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has worked with us, supported us, and joined us on this journey. To all our team members, our customers, and especially our regulars — your presence has made our venues truly special.
