Continuing the series, let’s see Category 2 Private Equity Funds under Category - II AIFs Category - II AIFs refer to those investment funds which do not undertake borrowing or other methods of leveraging except for fulfilling their day-to-day operational requirements. Unlike category - I of funds, these funds are not eligible to obtain the benefits of specific incentives from the governments and are characterized by moderate risk profiles. Private Equity funds under category - II of the Alternative Investment Funds refer to funds which target established and matured unlisted business entities which are interested in further business expansions, diversifications and even undertaking initial public offers in the future. Unlike venture capital, the target investments of private equity are low - risk to moderate risk ventures with a high return on investment projects. Due to requirements of a heavy investment, the private equity firms also take an active role in the management and operations of the entity wherein investments are made along with providing them operational, strategy and financial guidance including strategies which maximize their growth potential. The Securities and Exchange Board of India also exercises certain control over the operations and investment activities of the private equity funds under this category wherein every entity engaging in ongoing investment activities must register with the SEBI and provide disclosures pertaining to their ongoing business and investment activities, portfolio performances and other statutory details. Other than Private Equity, we have the following funds also under Category 2: Debt Funds This fund primarily invests in debt securities of unlisted companies. Usually, such companies follow good corporate governance models and have high growth potential. They have a low credit rating, which makes them a risky option for conservative investors. As per SEBI guidelines, money accumulated by debt funds cannot be used to give loans. Fund of Funds Such funds invest in other Alternative Investment Funds. Many students enrol for FRM just because it has 2 levels and less costly as compared to CFA. You should never make your career decisions in this way. Although, your financial situation is an important factor but just because of it you are choosing a particular field over other is not good. You need to understand that CFA and FRM are not the same things. They are completely different. CFA prepares your for Equity Research, Investment Analysis, Portfolio Management etc. whereas FRM prepares you for Risk Management, Credit Risk, Market Risk etc. The best way to choose between the two is where your interest lies and which field excites you. That's the only way. If you want to play around money, equities and love handling people's money then CFA is the thing for you. If your interest lies towards assessing credit risk of individuals, corporates etc. then FRM will do the job for you. Also just because FRM has 2 levels and CFA has 3 that doesn't mean that there is a high probability that you will be able to clear FRM and not CFA. How to calculate turnover for #Futures and #Options trading? As per guidance note issued by #ICAI- Turnover for F&O shall be the aggregate of absolute values of differences in trade I.e. difference of Buy Value and Sale Value. The rule is same for both Futures and Options. Example- 1) Buy Value is 100 and sale value is 120, difference is 20. 2) Buy Value is 100 and Sale Value is 90, then difference is (10). [4] Effective Study Plan Make an effective study plan and stick to it no matter what happens.
