Chapter 1: Hell’s Not So Bad After All
“Welcome to Hell, how may I take your order?”
“I’m sorry, what?” I blinked my eyes a few times and looked around at the beautiful garden around me. The sky was blue, birds were chirping, it was so serene and peaceful. Even the temperature was perfect for walking around naked, which I was doing… Apparently?

“Very original.” I snickered and flipped the coin up in the air, catching it and smacking it down on the back of my left hand. Then it just kinda melded into my flesh and dissolved into the tattoo, “Kinda convenient, huh?”
“Drink this.” She said that as a suspicious glass vial of glowing golden liquid floated in front of my face, “You’re still technically dead. Drinking this will regenerate your body and give you some ‘improvements’. You’re gonna need all the help you can get.”
“Umm, thanks, I guess?” I smiled wryly and took the vial, which was surprisingly heavy. I almost dropped it. Fortunately I didn’t spill anything. Just lifted the mysterious thing to my lips and sucked down the magical golden goop. It tasted like… I don’t know? Maybe vegetable juice? “Thank you for your patronage. Have fun with your depraved second life. You’re functionally immortal, so you probably won’t get a third. “Where is this place though?” I flapped my wings and the wind seemed to help me glide along more smoothly than before. I was a few hundred meters from the ground, but everything down there still looked pretty tiny. When I squinted though, I could see much more clearly.
It was just a nice, peaceful-looking valley between two large, ice capped mountains. There were trees and greenery everywhere. I could see a reflective clear-blue lake down below. Some rivers and streams came down the mountains to meet there. Of course, there were also a few waterfalls and the rivers also spread out beyond the valley.
In the distance, I could see oceans on either side. In order to get a better view, I flapped my wings and struggled to ascend higher… Okay, it was much easier to fall than it was to go higher. That’s not a big deal though, this valley was pretty nice either way.
“Wait, is that a house?” I saw a decent-sized house by the lake. The trees were far enough away that they wouldn’t cause trouble. It was a nice-looking place really. The slanted roof tiles were black and the sides of the building were brown, looking like they were made of wooden panels up higher, with gray cobblestone towards the bottom. There were also lots of big windows everywhere. Allowing me to see inside pretty easily.
“Nobody’s home.” I don’t know why, but I could just tell. Even without being able to see everything, I just knew it.
Flapping my wings a few times, I struggled to land ‘casually’ in front of the house.

“Is this ‘my’ house?” I walked inside and took a deep breath. It smelled normal, no sulfur or smoke, no weird tendrils growing out of the walls… I shrugged and walked around inside the empty building for a while, making sure it at least had all the appliances that a normal house should have.
There were two floors, three bathrooms, at least four ‘bedrooms’, a large kitchen and dining room, and a big living room with a fireplace. No beds, no stove, no dishwasher, nothing in the laundry room… Thankfully there were sinks, bathtubs, toilets, showers, et cetera. They also worked properly. Just no furniture, not even a cabinet to put away clothing.
