Voters in seven Union County precincts will go back to the polls next Tuesday, Nov. 26, to choose the Union County School District 4 trustee.

This will be the only runoff required in Union County.

Allison Goodwin and Mike Walker will face each other for the seat that has been held by Daphnia McMillen, who is retiring and did not seek re-election.

Goodwin, Walker and Tonya Hill ran for the office in the primary but no one received the 50 percent-plus-one-vote majority needed to win the post outright.

Godwin took the top spot with 37.66 percent of the vote. Walker came in second with 32.95 percent (510 votes) and Hill was third with 29.39 percent and 455 votes.

Union County Circuit Clerk Donna Treadaway’s office is accepting absentee ballots from qualified voters and her office will be open Saturday, Nov. 23, from. 8 a.m. to noon. Noon is the deadline for absentee voting in person for the runoff.

Only people who live in precincts 301 King’s Chapel, 302 Courthouse, 304 Beacon Hill, 401 Blue Springs, 402 Hillcrest Baptist Church, 403 Center and 404 Ellistown Baptist Church. Precincts 402, 403 and 404 only have a handful of voters who live in School District 4.

Incumbent school trustee Mike Browning was on the ballot but unopposed for the District 3 school board seat.

Chris Greer, District 1; Mickey Basil, District 2; and Michael Mink, District 5 were not up for election this year.

Logic and accuracy testing of the voting machines will be done Friday, Nov. 22.
