"Coo of the Far Seas" was never released on DVD or Blu-Ray in Japan (only on VHS and Laserdisc). However, there is at least one country that has released it on DVD : Italy (via Yamato Video).

Officially, no. The film was only released abroad in Italy / in Italian (on DVD, while in Japan only the VHS and Laserdisc versions exist, without subs of course). Unofficially, however, it's possible to find it with english subs.

4K Restoration, Theatrical screenings, and a steelbook @GKIDSfilms! ASAP! Angel's Egg was apparently direct to home video so maybe this shouldn't be a problem? As a paleo fan and a anime movie/GKIDS fan, a GKIDS licensed paleomedia movie is basically a dream come true!

If I had a nickle for how many emotional anime movies were about a boy carrying a mythological aquatic animal he rescued around in a backpack named Coo that prominently feature dogs...

I have the Japanese novel version of this that I got for like 2 bucks at an Asian market :D I bought it when I was still interested in learning how to read Japanese (haven't really gotten around to that level).
