This is just...smh. Another Black trans girl was murdered. When we said protect Black trans women—we meant our youth as well. She was only 17 and media of course used her birth name instead of her REAL name. Say her name. #BraylaStone 🕊

No one told my twin brother that he was too young to understand who he was. But as a trans child, I was told that I wasn’t old enough to know who I was yet. The double standard is staggering. Children are smarter than we give them credit for. They are not confused. Adults are.
“Being the only trans kid doing theater in a cafeteria in rural Maine, becoming a professional actor seemed, safe to say, impossible. Now, I’m the first transgender superhero on television. Your childhood experiences do not define you. There’s always an upswing.” #QueerBook

We’re not saying sex isn’t real. We’re saying it’s different from gender. My assigned sex at birth was male. But I identify as a woman. Sex is in the fun bits. Gender is in the brain.
Translation: “easy money is more important than how we affect the real world.”

You cannot stop kids from coming out as trans. You can only make it harder for them to live their lives. That’s the opposite of protecting them. That’s being a bully.
