Glachild (Japanese: フロン / Fron) is an Ice-type Fakemon introduced in Pokémon Altair and Sirius, being also obtainable in Vega.

In Procyon and Deneb, the Glachild line became Ice/Fairy and are exclusive to Deneb. In addition, they also got a counterpart in Procyon.

It evolves into Frozaiden starting at level 20, which evolves into Aurostice at level 30.

Overview[]

Glachild is the first Ice-type you encounter in game, and a very early one as well. She's a very good Special Attacker with decent Speed and usable Special Defense but terrible physical stats.

Movepool-wise, she's pretty diverse, though it requires TMs, breeding and tutors to do so. In Procyon and Deneb, Glachild is now a Ice/Fairy type blessed with the Pixilate ability and knows some Fairy type moves such as Fairy Wind and Draining Kiss.

Design Origin[]

Glachild and her evolutions seem to be inspired by the yuki-onna, a yokai from Japanese folklore. Glachild herself seems more closely based on the yukinko, a child spirit that appears alongside the yuki-onna. She might be inspired by the Ralts line, appearance-wise, stats and similar movepool.

Name Origin[]

Glachild's Japanese name, Fron, come from "frozen" without the "ze".

Glachild's English name is a portmanteau of glacier or glace (French for "ice") and child.
