Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation, has found itself in the crosshairs of the Indian judiciary. As it fights a defamation case filed against it by news agency ANI, questions have been raised about how its open-edit model affects the quality of the content on the free online resource.
To be precise, the question was raised by Justice Subramonium Prasad, who, according to CNBC-TV 18, said last month, “Anybody can edit a page on Wikipedia? What kind of page is this if it is open to anybody?”
