"HIP Conference" has been held seven times with the theme of "making Tokyo innovative". The final theme of the 7th theme is "The Future of Tokyo: The Shape of a Future City from the Perspective of Technology, Art and Community".
Session I was featured by Yoichi Ochiai, a "modern wizard." He talked with Chiaki Hayashi, CEO of Loftwork Co., Ltd., about the paradigm shift brought about by artificial intelligence with the theme of post-modernization, and the "Japan Revitalization Strategy" that is unique to a population-declining society.
In Session II, Mr. Riki Matsumoto of Natural Smile Japan Co., Ltd., who set up a “town nursery school” at a young age, was on stage. Matsumoto operates a unique nursery school that is positioned as a hub for a community where all generations of children, parents and grandparents gather. Together with Ryuji Fujimura, an architect who works on urban and community issues, he discussed the ideal urban community.
The wrap-up after the session was attended by Heizo Takenaka, a business scholar who supported the Koizumi cabinet. He summed up Tomasa Koike and talked about Tokyo's growth strategy and city-leadership. Technology, art, community, government. What is the “future Tokyo” that emerges beyond various overlapping topics?

What is the “Digital Nature” world that transcends human thinking?
Session I entitled "The Future City Changed by Technology and Art" What is Yoichi Ochiai's Ideal City? Mr. Chiaki Hayashi, the representative of Loftwork Co., Ltd., listened to the discussion, and the discussion began with the explanation of the theme "Dead Modernity" proposed by Ochiai.
The modern age in which we live is a world of "human-centeredism". This society uses words and mathematical formulas to define "what is a human being?" And "what is a human right?" Today, however, the world of "anthropocentrism" has reached its limits and a major paradigm shift is about to occur.
For example, artificial intelligence (AI) is a prominent example. Deep learning technology, which processes a large amount of information at high speed, performs the process from the information processing to the result at a level that humans can no longer understand. Although modern times tried to grasp the world with the power of logic and science, modern times attempt to interpret the world with the power of computer science that transcends humans. Ochiai explained this paradigm shift in Buddhist terms.
Mr. Yoichi Ochiai (hereinafter referred to as Ochiai) : In today's computer science where deep learning has become the mainstream, information processing is performed in the order of "Solving a problem with artificial intelligence and then proving it by a scholar." It is the opposite of the order in which humans solve a problem and then compute it, as in modern times. This is the biggest change in the computer science industry for the past five years, and it is a symbol of the transition to a post-modern world. This is a way of thinking of the world that leads to the "Jijimuge Hokkai * 1", which is advocated in Buddhism and Kegon sect. Objects and machines are connected, and each node and part of them can encompass the whole. In the process, discussions on human reason and standardization are becoming obsolete.
Chiaki Hayashi (Hayashi) : Mr. Ochiai calls such an area that cannot be captured by human reason "digital nature". I met the other day, Professor Yutaka Matsuo, who is studying artificial intelligence at the University of Tokyo, said, "From now on, artificial intelligence will create languages that humans can not understand and solve things."
* 1: What is the lawless society? world Is one of the Buddhist ideas that all things are connected and acting together. On the other hand, the term “director-free law” refers to the idea that the background of all things is related to the truth. Mr. Ochiai described each as an analogy to the world of "modern and modern times".
Solving the problem of "discrimination" created by modern times with technology
Ochiai says that the definition of "human" is a modern product, and he says that he should throw it away once. That's because this perspective of the world has led to a downplay of diversity and is one of the causes of all discrimination problems. For example, until the twentieth century, blacks had lost civil rights because of the theory that whites are the standard human being. The paradigm shift to the modern age is said to be the key to further solving such problems.
Ochiai A: When I assert the story of "the lawless world", some great scholars say, "You guys have a bloody history and have forgotten the definition of human rights." Certainly, modern times have developed with a worldview based on a relationship like the “Directorless Legal World”, but I think that the problem of discrimination created by standardization in it is equally deep-rooted.
Discrimination issues, such as gender issues and people with disabilities, still persist in this age. The concept of "disabled person", which does not belong to the concept of "healthy person", was born, and the distinction between "male" and "woman" gave birth to the word "LGBT". These categories create "minority" and the diversity of the minority is neglected.
Ochiai realized that one day he realized that all his research led to diversity issues. He says he is keenly aware of problem solving based on the values of the "modern lawless world", which is now postmodern. For example, his work " Holographic Whisper ] Is a super directional speaker that can emit sound toward a certain point in space.
By using a technology that simultaneously outputs different sounds to several places in the space, it is possible to convey location information by sound. In other words, when a blind person travels in a certain space, he / she can assist walking by saying, "You are here right now." This work was held in January 2017. HIP Fireside Chat 2017 Ochiai explained in detail.
"Create one person with AI." Opening up with technology, Yoichi Ochiai's first-rate "Japan Reconstruction Strategy"
Ochiai further argued that solving these diversity problems could lead to the development of artificial intelligence alternatives to humans and clear the problems caused by population decline.
Ochiai : People with no feet will be equipped with prostheses equipped with cutting-edge functions, blind people will be able to grasp the space with sound, and subtitles will be projected to the eyes of deaf people . If we continue to use technology to solve people's handicap, all human abilities will be lined up as alternative technologies. Furthermore, if dementia can be solved, a system for complementing brain functions could be created. By vertically integrating them, an AI-based environment with functions equivalent to one human can be created.
Japan is one of the rarely declining societies in the world, but it is possible to increase productivity and economic growth by developing technology in this way without accepting immigrants. This is what the Japanese Prime Minister called the "population reduction bonus." Because we live in an island nation where it is difficult to accept immigrants, we can justify the logic of mechanization and see the future development.
Before we solve the problem of diversity, we can see the scenario of Japan's “reconstruction strategy”. The heated session kicked off when the potential of technology for urban development was shown.
