Are you a nonvoter? Do you realize how much power you hold in your hands?

Hey, Michael Moore here. Ball cap. Flint. Poisoned water. Columbine. Predicted Trump Presidency/issued warning/nobody listened. Booed off Oscar stage for saying there’d be no WMD in Iraq. That’s me! Hi!

Now, let’s talk about you. You are a NonVoter. Maybe you don’t care about politics. Maybe you’re tired of people telling you that you have to vote — like you have to change your underwear, like you have to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. You don’t have to see or do anything — including voting! There are a number of voters who actually are in favor of you not voting because if you don’t care enough about what’s going on — or to learn about what’s going on — that kinda makes you a dangerous voter. They think you’re voting without the facts and without thinking. You’re a complete wild card. You’re unpredictable. And in fact, readers that are reading this right now are thinking, “Don’t tell nonvoters to vote! They’re non-thinkers! Maybe we’re all better off flying alone without them.”

But I don’t believe that.

I think a lot of you are nonvoters in the same way that I believe I’m a non-drinker. But if you were to put a White Russian in my hand right now, I might just be the happiest boy in this building. So why do I let people think I don’t drink? Because I’ve never enjoyed being in a “drinking culture” and I’ve never found anyone who, when drunk, was interesting… which is my way of saying: I get you. The same way I don’t like to be a part of the drinking culture, you don’t like to be part of the culture of politics.

So, why are you receiving this letter? Well, probably one of your friends or family sent it to you. Or maybe you saw it on social media. Or maybe it was the simple magic of the toxic algorithms of Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Either way, here we are.

A lot of people on the news and online talk about “Nonvoters” like they’re aliens. Like, why don’t they “care” about this thing that “all the rest of us” care about. As though you are members of some fringe group that lurks on the edges of society.

But you’re not! No! And I’m here to tell you a little secret that they don’t want you to know:

You, my friends, ARE THE BIGGEST AND MOST POWERFUL POLITICAL PARTY IN AMERICA!

It’s true! It’s not the Republicans or the Democrats. It’s the NonVoters.

Look at these numbers. In 2020, 66.8% of Americans 18 and older came out to vote. That means two thirds of us voted, and one third did not, right? Let me put it a different way for you.

Here are the election results for 2020 based on the POPULAR VOTE:

1st Place – Democrats / Joe Biden – 81 Million Votes

2nd Place – NonVoters – 80 Million Votes

3rd Place – Republicans / Donald Trump – 74 Million Votes

You guys have more votes than Donald Trump!

And in 2016, your nonvoting party performed even better!

1st Place – NonVoters – 100 Million Votes

2nd Place – Democrats / Hillary Clinton – 65 Million Votes

3rd Place – Republicans / Donald Trump – 62 Million Votes

Nonvoters aren’t powerless! You have all the power! You are the most powerful political force in America, and what you choose to do with that power will define the course of history for this country.

Because here’s the thing: Every day — whether you know it or not, whether you like it or not — politics makes decisions that affect your life. Having to pay off student loan debt well into your 50s = politics. Being forced to drive 8 hours to another state to get life-saving medical care after a miscarriage = politics. The federal minimum wage staying at $7.25/hr = politics. Your grocery bill skyrocketing because companies are allowed to jack up prices without oversight = politics. Receiving a letter from the National Guard (which you only joined to help pay for college) saying that you are now being deployed to die in an unnecessary war in a faraway land = politics.

Maybe that’s why some people in the media and in the political parties disparage you — because they’re afraid of what you might do if you do start paying attention to politics.

They are afraid of what you are capable of.

You’ve got the power and you have the leverage.

So they lie and muddy the water and make stuff up so that people yell at each other and then regular people — real people — YOU — tune out. And I think that’s what they want.

But I don’t want that. I think your voice matters. I believe YOU deserve a seat at the table and a piece of the pie. Who doesn’t like pie! So I wanted to give you a brief list of issues where Kamala Harris stands. But before I do that, let me be very clear about a few things: I am not a dues-paying member of the Democratic Party. I do not work for The Campaign. I am not a paid pundit for any of the networks and I will never take a dime to come on cable news to share with you what I think.

These are the issues that I believe truly matter to YOU and your family. And it might be good to know exactly where Kamala Harris stands. Having researched this myself, I can assure you that our current Vice President strongly stands for the following:

  1. Only Women Have the Right to Control Their Bodies.

  2. Tax The Rich.

  3. Ban Assault Weapons.

  4. Everyone Should be Able to Afford their Own Home.

  5. Double or Triple the Minimum Wage.

  6. Stop Corporate Price Gouging.

  7. Ceasefire in Gaza.

  8. Expand ObamaCare.

  9. Expand Social Security and Medicare.

  10. Cover At-Home Care For Seniors.

  11. Child Tax Credit.

  12. Let Workers Join a Union.

  13. Paid Family & Medical Leave.

And on these issues, I stand strongly with her.

Donald Trump does not.

Do you?

It really is that simple.

If the answer is yes, please make your voice heard, just this once. It counts.

Can I ask that you do it just as a favor for me? It really is that important to me. There is, honestly, too large of a part of me that believes we may be truly at our end.

I really won’t bother you for anything else. But I will remember that you did something that you really didn’t want to do. And that you did it for the rest of us.

Thank you for this selfless act, my friend.

— Mike

** In order to have a troll-free, hate-free comments section — and because if there’s one thing I know about my crazy haters, they would rather spend an eternity in hell with Marjorie Taylor Greene than send me $5 if forced to become a paid subscriber — my Comments section here on my Substack is limited to paid subscribers. But, not to worry — anyone can send me their comments, opinions and thoughts by writing to me at mike@michaelmoore.com. I read every one of them, though obviously I can’t respond to all. And every few weeks or so I share them publicly here on Substack and on my podcast so that your voice is heard by the multitudes in this wonderful community of readers and listeners. The solution here is not optimal but it has worked and my Comments section has become a great meeting place for people wanting to discuss the ideas and issues I raise here. There is debate and disagreement, but it is refreshing to have it done with respect and civility, unfettered by the stench of bigotry and Q-anon insanity.

Maybe this will get the NonVoters off the couch;

Rarely do I agree with anything that comes out of Trump's mouth, but I have to admit he really "nailed it" with his "enemies from within" comment; enemies that a far greater threat to our democracy than Russia, China, and North Korea COMBINED; enemies who, while not necessarily being made to face a firing squad, should absolutely never, ever, be allowed to ascend—or re-ascend—to power in this country.

And their names are:

Donald J Trump

J. D. Vance

Family-separation guru Stephen Miller

Steve Bannon

Foreclosure King Stephen ("Please don't call me Steve") Mnuchin

Rudy Giuliani

Michael Flynn

John Eastman

Peter Navarro

Sidney Powell

Jeffrey Clark

Mark Meadows

Leonard Leo

Peter Thiel

Elon Musk

The Proud Boys

The Oath Keepers

The Three-percenters

The Boogaloo Boys

—and ad infinitum.

So, thanks, Donnie, for pointing them all out!

Many young folks are disgusted with both parties. Trump for obvious reasons. Harris it seems is adept at the two step shuffle. Avoids speaking of the real corruption with AIPAC bribes and the genocide in Gaza. Then you have Bill Clinton show up and speak to the valid reasons for committing genocide; his speech was utterly ridiculous. Citizen United vs FEC undermining our democracy. Supreme Court taking gifts. Supreme Court rulings that cater to their gift givers. A bribe is not a bribe if you give the gift after the awarding of a contract - utterly ridiculous. Rome did not fall in a day - so as we are learning here.
