Smartphones got rounded screens and notches since 2017 (S8 and iPhone X respectively). MacBooks since 2020. Given the history of electronics manufacturers, it is only a matter of time until other vendors copy Apple's anti-features.
The worst thing about non-rectangular screens is the hostility towards third-party operating systems, including Linux Mint.
