About

Oh? It seems you have stumbled onto my profile, by accident or by purpose, welcome! :)

My name is Meghshyam Prakash, and I am a Masters of Commerce (MCom) student at the University of Auckland majoring in Global Management and Innovation. I directly moved into Master's from my triple major BCom degree (Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Management, and Operations and Supply Chain Management). I am the 2023 Ricketts Kupe leadership scholar, working on how to make NZ SMEs into global powerhouses.

My Masters's Dissertation is focused on why and how New Zealand Managed Growth Microbusinesses grow. We seek to understand their international growth ambitions, people, strategies, and infrastructure to help develop a pathway forward for Kiwi business.

Specific Research Interests:

-Microbusiness/Small-to-Medium (SME) Enterprise Strategy
-Coopetition, specifically on this effect on new product development
-Value creation
-Growth and Scaling Internationally
-Supply Chain Visibility
-Family-Owned Business
-Pricing optimization

My particular interests have been the impact entrepreneurship scene and especially being able to create social change. My areas of Interest currently are in the fields of supply-chain tech, with a venture cooking up ways to increase visibility and build a global spine in end-to-end supply chains.🍳

Currently, I am on the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) youth advisory group and still mentor for the Auckland region to help high school students with whatever problems they may need help solving for the 2023 YES programme. I also received the University of Auckland Business School Deans Leadership Award for 2021, and was previously a startup scout and Entrepreneurial Assistant In Residence Intern (EAIR) for Startupbootcamp Australia.

I was the Chief Financial Officer for Kakariki Pure in 2018 and helped win an accolade of awards, including the most innovative and commercial-ready award at YES, and helped push the startup to the top four in the region.

In my spare time, my hobbies include playing sports such as cricket and badminton and enjoying being a part of the esports scene aswell as venture creation.

In the past, I was the Youth MP for Northland and represented the Northland electorate at parliament and my sitting MP Matt King. I also was an advisor for the United Nations Center for Constitutional Research in 2019 and helped their ambassadors learn how to mitigate climate change.

(pro tip: feel free to connect, but please add a message so I know who you are and what your passions are so I can direct the energy!)

We helped young kiwis all over the country be able to make it easier to make submissions to government policy over a range of governmental departments!

Some of our work included gathering youth submissions on these policies:

Biodiversity Policy- Department of Conservation (Pilot)
    We Achieved:
-280+ Youth Submissions on the policy
-This was 84% of young peoples first submission
-Managed to gather a wide range of voice from under 12s all the way 21+!

Climate Change Commission Report:- Climate Change Commission (CCC)
    Results:
-Reached over 190,000+ Young People with impressions on over 230,000+ Young People in NZ with a CPA of $0.22
    - Almost half of our respondents didn't know the CCC report existed and didn't know what it covered before our engagement campaign
-Facilitated the discussion of new suggestions from young people to the "wicked problems" climate change offers such as regenerative farming and the reduction of fast fashion as well as improvements needed in our infrastructure in order to boost confidence in cycling to reduce carbon emissions.

Our Cogo Evaluation report stated the following:

"The Hive pilot tested and proved the success of a highly innovative way to actively engage young people in a meaningful participation in the policy development process... The Hive shows huge promise as a way to engage with hard-to-reach populations and encourage better demographic representation in our policy development processes"

Our vision we set and founded was the idea of enabling TWO WAY AUTHENTIC [relationship between young people and policy makers] where young people around NZ have their voices heard!

I worked specifically in the brand team and helped with the foundations of what The Hive meant to young people!
