D5 Render 2.9 released with terrain sculpting, phasing animations, AI tools and more
Dimension 5 has announced the release of D5 Render version 2.9. Here’s a list of the key features:
-
Dynamic Terrain Sculpting: The updated Terrain tool allows users to create detailed landscapes directly within D5 Render. It includes options for sculpting upward, downward, smoothing, or flattening terrain, offering precise control over environment shaping. Users can apply up to six different materials to various landscape areas to create transitions between elements like grassy slopes and rocky outcrops. Integration with D5 Scatter simplifies the addition of natural elements like grass, trees, rocks and more.
-
Phasing Animation: This feature makes it easy to animate construction sequences or showcase complex processes without manual keyframing. Templates like Drop/Rise and Ascend/Descend facilitate the animation of grouped objects, while custom options such as rotation and bounce effects improve presentations. Phasing Animation is designed to clearly communicate the evolution of projects, from architectural developments to product assemblies, in a visually engaging manner.
-
Post-AI Tool & Random Placement: The new Post-AI tool builds on the AI Enhancer, offering advanced image processing capabilities, including style transfers like watercolor effects or photorealistic enhancements. It supports high-resolution outputs up to 6K. The Random Placement feature introduces variability in object arrangements, adjusting parameters like size and rotation to break up uniformity and increase realism in scenes.
-
FPS Booster: To ensure smoother performance, the FPS Booster optimizes complex geometry and densely populated scenes, maintaining fluid real-time rendering even with large models. This is particularly useful for intricate architectural or landscape designs.
-
Asset Management Enhancements: The Asset Detail Page provides an organized view of thumbnails, properties, and file sizes, simplifying asset selection and management. This improvement enhances workflow efficiency by making it easier to navigate and utilize available resources.
-
Expanded Software Integration: The update improves integration with popular design tools, including Rhino, 3ds Max, and Blender. Rhino users can now export models by selection or layer grouping. The 3ds Max integration supports new grouping structures and refined export settings. The Blender plugin, now compatible with version 4.2, includes support for camera animations and external file linking, facilitating a seamless transition between platforms.
-
New Assets and UI Customizations: The release adds over 320 new assets, including characters like elderly and children models, and materials such as tiles, fabrics, and natural surfaces. UI updates include customizable layouts for Video Mode and streamlined shortcuts for better management of lights and objects, offering a more personalized and efficient user experience.
