About This Game

TWELVE MINUTES is a real-time top-down interactive thriller with an accessible click and drag interface. Featuring James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe.

What should be a romantic evening with your wife turns into a nightmare when a police detective breaks into your home, accuses your wife of murder and beats you to death...

Only for you to find yourself immediately returned to the exact moment you opened the front door, stuck in a TWELVE-MINUTE time loop, doomed to relive the same terror again and again...

Unless you can find a way to use the knowledge of what’s coming to change the outcome and break the loop.

TWELVE MINUTES blends the dream-like tension of THE SHINING with the claustrophobia of REAR WINDOW and the fragmented structure of MEMENTO.

6/10.

The game is solid, enough. You are in a groundhog day scenario. The way to solve the story is set up very well and very interconnected, however I feel the problems arise from the way the game wants you to be immersed in the story and foregoes gameplay to achieve that.

So you as a player are in a time loop, however at about the half-way point in the game, when you have quite a lot of information regarding the main situation, you will generally get to about the 6 minute mark (every loop is not actually twelve minutes, but it certainly feels both too long and too short)

If you forget something in a loop, anything, anything crucial, you'll have to restart. I know that the developers were in a bit of a bind, because if they gave the player too many ways to solve problems, then half the game would be accidentally solved on the spot with the first confrontation.

but I still feel unsatisfied that they wouldn't unlock certain dialogue options or allow more succinct ways to skip parts of a loop.

Also, this game is 80% story driven and 20% player "what if this works?" Driven. If you enjoy the story, this game is an easy 8/10. If you don't enjoy the story and dislike spending at least 30 minutes attempting random things in loops to progress the story, this game is a 5/10.

I liked the story up until the ending, where... well I'm not gonna spoil it, but... it... it's not a good twist.

still though, willem dafoe brings his all to his role in this game, and he works very well as his character.

While the game at times can be a bit too repetitive and sometimes frustrating, it is overall very well made. The voice acting, the story, the puzzles, they all are very impressive and keep you captivated. Personally I think this is one of the better puzzle games I've played and I would 100% recommending it to others.

Really good gameplay, very good voice acting, a really smart idea. It blows your mind how detailed it is and how many choices it gives you until you reach the ending. Very good experience.

Cool game. Just when you think this is it, you finally solved it and got to the end, you're back in the loop wondering what else could it be? Bit like Groudhog Day (if you're old enough to remember). You'll eventually figure out what the big plot twist is before they say it, but getting there is worth it. Took me about 3.5 hours to finish it, no need to look up any walkthrough as you should be able to figure things out without any help. If you're stuck, just quit and come back later with a fresh mind. I would definitely wait for it to be on sale tho, as this type of game isn't for everyone.

I love this game. The story is amazing and the puzzles are really satisfying. I still theorize about the story of this game a lot. And achievement hunting in this game is great and rewarding.

The game is pretty neat. It would have been better if each ending is not a repeat. overall. good game!

.:GOOD:.
-Very original gameplay, a bit confusing at first.
-Amazing voice actors of course!
-Engaging story that you really want to unravel.
-Plot twists everywhere!

.:BAD:.
-The game revolves more around discovering the story than actually doing stuff which feels a bit frustrating at first
-The story ends up being too far-fetched to my taste...
-Having to play so many loops with no possibility to skip certain actions and dialogues is quite annoying, especially if you make one mistake and have to do it all over again. If you want all the achievements, be prepared to be patient!

.:OVERALL:.
A very nice original game, highly recommend but requires patience and an open mind I guess?

2/5 is generous for me. I am all for video games as art; I feel like this game was trying too hard to be art and stopped thinking about what it was like to actually play the game. Many of the ways you might try to explore are tedious to set up, don't become a lot more efficient as you play (with a couple of important exceptions that were really nice), and some of the story events seem to fall apart under scrutiny. I wasn't a fan, but commend the developers for what they tried for sure.

The first few loops were interesting, but at later stages I had the feeling, that once the loops became too much of a trial and error to progress, the dialog and actions got quite repetitive and in effect losing their emotional impact.

I like the concept but I did not work out for me here, unfortunately.

Quite good if you like detective stories. In this one you'll have to figure out, how to break the time loop, that you stuck in.
