I was woken up
At 4 AM
With the sound of
Bloody bursting crackers
Disturbing my peaceful sleep
It is Diwali you see
And crackers are part
Of the festivity
(but not sooo early)
I’m not mad though
Not today
Because
I’m soaking up the sun
The vitamin D
Is doing wonders for me
I am lightening up
As the city lights up.

(I think I’m soaking up the sun a little too much. I’m on a heat overdose).

What I appreciate about Diwali are the decorated homes lit up with colorful lights and lamps. People in their sartorial best visiting each other and the delicious looking sweets. You should see the sweets spread, it is heavenly. Unfortunately, I’m not a sweet person. I am satisfied feasting with my eyes without gobbling them up . So much for liking sweets.
